Hi everybody, I need help finishing my alarm system. The only two wires left to connect are the postive and negative door triggers. Does anybody know how to hook these two wires to the car's electrical system. I need the location and what wire to tap into. I was told by someone to use a red and white wire from the door's push button that turns on the light. Does it run close by the front left of the dashboard and do I need to cut the wire so I can connect one side to the negative and one side to the positive.
thanks

First of all what year is your 240SX? cause if it's 89-94, I could help you for sure (maybe 95-98 too, if the wirings are the same).
Second, does it have pdl? Is it stock?
Third, did it have an alarm before?

Its an 1989 hatchback model. When I bought the car it had a viper 300 alarm system connected, but with no siren or remote. So I just bought another car alarm. How do I find out if it has postive door locks?

I just did my valentine on my 92.
you need to open up the panel right below the quarter rear window (the one that says 240sx on it). No screw on that, just rip it open enought to get a splicer in there.
anyway, there should be 2 wires that come out of the back of the black push button. first test out which wire sends positive signal and (-) signal when door's opened or vice versa.
You need to tell me how many wires the alarm have to tap into this button.
you should be able to fiqure out from here on. You do have a voltmeter right? and always use the wire that has the strongest signal

Easiest way would be with a test light. Put on end of the alligator clip to ground and stick the probe into one of the wires. Depress the door switch. If the bulb lights up, then that wire is 12V.
But yes, you can wire it to the interior dome light if your lazy. Best thing to do would be to find the door switch wire.
