help on this newbie type quetion plz

its a simple as thing but ive had different people tell me different things
when do i check my oil level hot or cold engine?
believe me i got like 5 ppl say hot n another 5 say cold
i am like wtf now at this point so i can here for help

Best way to check oil level: When you wake up in the morning, go to the car, DONT turn it on, and check the oil level. Thats the most accurate reading since all the oil should have dripped to the bottom overnight. You dont need to turn it on before hand.
