Im going to be ordering my s15 hlsd here in the next couple of days. Its going into my s13 oe diff.To set the backlash you need shims, right? Where can i get a shim kit to do this? What did you guys with s15 lsd's do to get them in?

From what I've read, you can use the stock shims in the original location as the stock diff.

If you search a bit, you'll find a few threads on a S15 LSD install.

Here's a start..

I'll know from personal experience pretty soon. I've got a S15 LSD sitting waiting to be installed.

Keeping it within spec is hit or miss with reusing the stock shims. I looked for a shim kit when I was going to install mine, but the best I could do was get the part numbers for each size shim from the FSM and get them priced individually. I think they ended up being about $15 per shim from the dealer and there are 12 (?) different sizes or so.

I ended up having a shop I trust install it. It was just going to be too much of a pain for me to have to measure which shims I needed and then order and wait for them, still with a possibility of needing different sizes. It was an area I felt more comfortable having a professional take care of, and he did end up having to shim it.

This thread on FreshAlloy is pretty informative ... it used to have pictures too but I guess they don't work anymore.
