So I was just about to get a SAFC II to "fine tune" my setup (
[email protected], with the usual bolt-ons, and finally get it to stop running slightly rich, when I noticed they've just released the:
AFC Neo - SAFC and VAFC in one:
http://www.optionimports.com/aafcneofuco.html
But I'm thinking this provides no advantage for a s13 sr20det....More for the turbo'd honda crowd....correct? Does this have a finer adjustment or any other advantage over the SAFC II that anyone can tell?
I'm looking for a lower cost option to get the most out of my setup- just want to make sure I'm getting the best option for what I need.
I'm seem to be on the slow learning curve for piggyback computers...:keke:

16 pt. adjustment range is about all that you're gonna benefit from, and its actually a pretty good thing to have, imo.

yah there is no need for vafc for you, plus this thing has easy tune or somethin, some feature to make it easier on you or something. personally id just get a safcII prolly really cheap now that these new ones are out, but its up to you.

SAFC II is 12 point adjustable in 200 rpm increments. Is the extra 4 worth $100, or even needed?
I'm a bit of o NEWB on this stuff and have never used a piggyback... I daily drive the car with the occasional track visit. So essentially I like to set this stuff and forget it.
The plan would be to get the piggyback and dyno the car with wideband A/F this summer, have it set and forget it adjsuting it...am I stupid to expect no adjustment for weather etc. once it's tuned?
Setup is stock t25, stock injectors, Walboro, HKS actuator @14psi (solid as a rock, no spikes).

well you have a pretty mild setup there would be no need to spend that kind of money on the neo when the safcII is an extremely tried and true basic fuel computer. get a used on on ebay for like 175 or even less. or spend 370 bux on a new one, there is no need for it. you could really put the extra money to use on otehr stuff.

Im new too these things too, do you need to run a wideband with the neo SAFC?

Theroy is that these (SAFC) are tuning tools. You can add/subtract air or fuel.
You hook you car up to a dyno with a wideband A/F, and with each run make adjustments, and the wideband will tell you youf A/F ratio. Idea is to get the besf A/F ratio at all RPMs making the best power. Cost for this ~hour of work runs about $100.
If you wanted to buy your own wideband, I guess you could and tune yourself...but it's not necessary.

Think of it this way
The more points you have to correct on, the closer you can get it to perfect...
That's why the AEM EMS has like a 32x32 map for tuning...

More adjustment points is nice.
One downside I see is theft wise. Now honda fans with VTEC will be more willing to steal it.

I would just get an SAFC2, has enough capability to achive your goals, plus the vafc is worthless for SR tuning.
