Agh someone delete this thread already. It's gonna turn into another weld locd vs lsd debate.
Weld Locd 3 and 4 will not break...
Done deal.

please do not debate clutch type versus weld in this thread..........
strictly poorman's budget NSD ppl advice
i like my weldloc3 but when i heard 4 came out what is different about it from version 3.
THREAD STRICTLY SAYS "HOW MANY MONTHS OR YEARS YOU HAD IT? NOT COMPARISON THREAD"
.....yea i seen the debate lmao; in this world there are budget drifters and hey some people just want to have fun, yet one day will shine.
its not all about what product brand you have or high tech parts to drift, its also the driver who controls the car
"don't let the car drive you, you are the absolute control"

I've had both my s-chassis' weld locd and I love how much faster my car can corner.
Plus being able to sustain a drift is a huge bonus!

7 months.
Not weld locd though, but good enough.
A few chirps are nothing compared to the performance gains.

I had mine for a year this time (weldloc3). I went to many bay area events and haven't had any problems. High speed, low speed drifts, it works well for me. 20 min around Thunderhill was a blast with a weld diff, but I perfer different for road racing.
Something to think about: Compare the price of a welded diff to a clutch type or vlsd. If you don't like it, you can always get a new open diff and your cost will still be lower then getting a vlsd.

I've had mine for a while now, I don't even know how long. More than a year, I haven't ever changed the gear oil. ROFL. It's still going well too.

My welded diff lasted about a month, it was welded by a guy that has done more then 10, mine was the first to break. :(

Yea spinning the tires in the mud then hitting the pavement will break most diffs. I do admit to welding that diff in a bad condition, Broken arm, and not feeling to well at the time. I re welded it for the person who he gave the diff too.
The version 4 is a stronger model, with added metal plating, and support points.
BTW. I have done over 110 of these and no one has broken any axels, even my 444hp 444tw fd hasnt had any problems.
Shock myth busting.

IF you even count jon waynes diff breaking and do the math...
1/110 x 100 = 0.909%
less than 1% of the diffs that luke has welded have broken... Its probably less that that becuase im sure he has welded more than 110. Luke will also reweld the diff if it does even break due to some act of god so no one should be worried about a diff breaking if its a weld loc...
I hit a curb pretty bad in november, f*cked all my shit up, even pushed out the axel on the part that connects to the output shafts of the diff, and my weld loc 3 is still working great, no problems at all.
FTW...

The diff Luke welded didn't break. The gears themselves did. I know this because I have John's diff in my car.

The diff Jed broke wasn't a weld locd.
But the one currently in his car is one of Lukes and it's still going strong.

To add to that, the one in Jed's car now is passed on from my car, and still living strong.
