I have an S15 SR20DET and with it came a S14 SR (maybe) transmission. The reason for doubt is that the breather hose is RED. I've only seen S13 SR trannys with Red breather hoses while S14 SRs I've seen have black breather hoses. Another thing...Yury at wiring specialties said I had an S13 speed sensor (it was the aluminum cased sensor) not the black plastic that S14s have.

So here are my questions...

I bought, previously before I received the transmission, an aluminum S14 SR driveshaft (it fits perfectly though) so is this a problem?

Secondly, the car it's going into is an S14. I have an S14 black plastic speed sensor. All I have to do then is put the pinion from the existing one onto that to have my speedo read right.

Thirdly, the bolts for the bellhousing don't meet spec sizes that the FSM says...will S14 SR bolt lengths work for me if it's an S13 Tranny?

Breather hoses change color depending on numerous things, not just the chassis. I've seen both colors on S13 and S14, and on autos and manuals.

Transmission is the same, so driveshaft fitment is not changed.

Use the VSS for the chassis, IE if it's an S14, use the S14 VSS.

Bellhousing bolts should all be the same, if not just use what you have. On 90% of my installs I leave the top two out completely as well as the lower four that anchor the large plate brackets (the brackets I take off and throw away). There's not much load in that area, you just want to keep the two units together, the load is applied more to the mounts than anything else.
