Sup guys,
ive got a 90 240sx SE with redtop sr swap. When i have they key off or even out of the ignition, the ecu still still stay energized, and the brake light on the gauge cluster will illuminate.. the parking brake doesnt even have to be set.
Is this a common problem? ive heard of atleast one other person who had this happen but didnt ever find a cure.
any insight is appreciated.

I think I can help, my harness came back from a professional FUCKED:fawk2: , so yeah.... does your engine turn off when you take the key out/off? if not, how are you killing it? does the damn thing run to begin with?
did you do your harness?
does your car have an alarm?
sorry for replying with questions, but I had to open up my engine harness, I don't want you to do this if you don't have to...
don't PM, let's get this info out for everybody...

The engine does turn off along with a majority of the switched accessories, but the ecu and parking brake light does remain energized. the car does run, ive got some other issues im trying to work out right now.. the people who did the swap werent very knowledgable.

There could be so many things I won't even know where to start. Check all your ECU plugs and make sure they're not loose. Check all your wiring. Ignition switch. Bad grounds.
The brake light in the gauge cluster should not come on when the key is off. The brake lights in the back work all the time, but the cluster should only have power with the key on.

alright, start the car, then turn it off, key out. now go to the front of the engine bay where your cold pipe/fuse box is, you need to unplug the larger of the two harness plugs that connect the engine hanrness to the body harness, these two plugs get modified when you do the swap.
Unplugging that should turn off the lights on the dash.
If the lights don't go off, I suggest unplugging your harness(engine) plug by plug until they turn off, then...
uncover the wiring on the engine harness going up that plug. Something is wrong in there, you need to find it. I did it by cutting one wire at a time, see what happens (tedious, have to solder shrinkwrap each time you achieve nothing)
Now, I had my KA harness modified by Yuri, so it probably has different color wires than the SR harness, but my harness had a black(white stripe) wire spliced into a wire(?) where it shouldn't have, that I had to go about ten inches into the harness to find. My engine wouldn't turn off, but otherwise same thing as you, check engine light, brake light and some others on the cluster would not go out with turning the key off.
(my ignitor wires were also mismatched, allowing sparks but no firing order, that was a little tougher to fix, so consider yourself lucky...)
Anyway I hope this helps, good luck:x:
