realllllyyyyyyyy pretty, kev and I both love your car.

Kevin says "he needs bumper lights though" he's soooo negative.

It's for extra cooling. :P

Yeah no bumper lights for me, thank you. I prefer it without them. Looks better and allows more cooling.

But tell Kevin he can send me a pair if he wants to. :)

Ha. I never see those available. I'd have to go jack them from some car on the street or something!
More cooling? You're kidding right?
:D
Nice oil cooler. We have the same one.
Also, yay for clutch fan and shroud.

One minor minor gripe - your brakes are from a GTS-t or a GTS25t (or GTS-t Type M or GTS-4, etc)
GTS = nonturbo RB20DE suckage with sliding caliper four lug failure.

nice, alway been a fan of your coupe. Is that VS kit style #3? also does your friend with the hatch, which kit is that? #4?

im confused.... are you aying there is no such thing as an r32 gts? or that the gts brakes suck? cause i got either some r32gts/gts-t brakes and thought they were good :-/

Yo Kevin, thanks for the clarification. So does GTS-t = HCR32 and GTS = HR32? I'm trying to remember...

trsilvia: Yeah, I think mine is type 3 except the r/b. His was DRFT-style f/b with Chargespeed sides and r/b in that pic.

Hey Dousan, thanks man. Good recommendations on the cooling stuff. Yours and Lindsay's cars are soooo hot right now. Makes me drool. :)

Anytime Errin.
I'm pretty sure you're spot-on with those chassis codes, but I won't confirm with 100% accuracy, as I'm not 100% sure.

I'm saying that 'GTS' is overused by everyone to mean a non-GTR R32, but it's only applicable to a specific version of non-GTR R32, specifically an RB20DE powered version that uses sliding calipers and has 4 lugs. Only the ones I mentioned use 4-piston fixed calipers and are 5-lugged.

that car... i can dig it! looks really hot! i wish i had my cusco cage back, stiffened my car quite a deal and never did i compete where i needed more than that for legalities. oh well, again, your car is hot!

Nice buildup! I'm lovin the oil cooler. But you guys actually prefer the clutch fan? I guess I'm the only fckr this happens to.

http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e367/gambit25/stupidfan.jpg

That happend at abut 5K rpm. It scorched the 2 wires/harness that go to the distributor and put my car out of commision. Grrr. When hunting in the junkyard for the new harnesses I noticed that another S14 also had the harness scorched by the clutch fan. I'm thinking the fan somehow gets enough play to move at high rpm? Even though I know mines was installed tight.

04-22-2006, 09:55 PM
^^^ wtf.. that would be scary.. if the fan actually untightened itself and flew out of your hood spinning 5k+ rpms

Kaji
04-22-2006, 10:15 PM
Makes me think of a James Bond car with all the weapon gadgets. Have the fan shoot out of your hood and fly backwards through the windshield of whoever is chasing after you.

Catpunch, your car is TOO HOT. Love white cars! WE gotta come up to the NW for an event SOON. Its hard with my schedule. Any trips you have planned down here? We need to get a Cat/Zira driving session.

I am also planning out an oil cooler right now. Cool!

P.S. clutfans for lyfe!

I agree.

FelineFistAttack, I've always liked your car, and your new upgrades are quite swell. Especially the clutch fan, yay for clutchfan.

And your engine bay is hella clean! Damn!

Hey guys, I hate to ask this but why do you prefer the clutch fan to an e-fan?

I have a crack in the center of my clutch fan and i happened to have some altima e-fans lying around which im going to throw in.

Should i just get another clutch fan?

DoriftoSlut
04-23-2006, 02:34 AM
Altima e fans are not that bad. Clutch fans aren't terrific, some really good e fans can out flow them. Its just the fact that its properly shrouded and pulls more cfm than MOST e fans, makes clutchfan a safe bet and reliable to boot. $300 or so in good e fans will work real well, too. But shit.. $300. I'd rather get an oil Cooler kit.

Clutch fans=free and works really well and reliable=Awesometown, USA

04-23-2006, 03:37 AM
yah i m planning on buying a ferrari and my first mod is gonna be ditching the efan and putting in a clutch fan. wtf?

clutch fan for lyfe??LMAO i had to replace 3 clutch fans before i switched to efans

1-e fan =u loose less hp (faster throttle response w/ efan )
2- there is more room with a efan
3 there is more flow with the efan - when u need it "idle"
clutch fan would pull in more air in high speeds but there is no need for that at that point.
yah the efan could go bad... but that is why i got a duel set up if one goes out i still have one more
but if clutch fan goes out.. u are pretty much fucked

Johny5
04-23-2006, 09:49 AM
are you serious about the idle cfm problem? i put my a/c fan on constant high so that the second my clutch fan is working under the cfm of my a/c fan the a/c fan is already going at it full blast. 1 year like that no problems. clutch fan in your grill dude, i doubt you could afford an e-fan that truly outflows the clutch fan at redline, because the clutch fans going crazy up there. stay at redline often? drift with lower hp? going e-fan may not be the best idea for you.

well mine that i got were 5 lugs which means its a gts-t right? i ended up just using the calipers and using powerslot rotors that fit with the caliper and was 4 lug!

I guess to each their own. They both have their pros and cons. I'll stick with the Taurus fan I put in, with 3800cfm it does a good job. It sucks in so much air, the other day it pulled in a grocery bag. heh. :D

I had a FAL dual efan setup (M210) for years which pulled a lot of air but also took way too much current which was messing with my electronics. For example, my oil pressure warning light would come on randomly (scaring the sh*t outta me), my lights would dim, etc...

There are obviously some other efan setups out there that do a decent job of cooling and maybe don't draw as much current. I just decided to go back to the tried and true clutch fan and see how it works for me. Most of the times I've heard of clutch fans "exploding" or whatever, the fan was already cracked or damaged causing it to be unbalanced.

Dorifto: Thanks man. Nice coming from someone whose 1via went from "awesome" to "OMG-hot-vip-wheels-slammed-fitment-yoshida-sexy-style-kuroi-hardcore-driven-hotness" before any of us knew what happened... :)

sounds like you were trying to draw it's power from somewhere you shouldn't have been. tie it straight to the battery with a fuse, and you shouldn't have problems.

NekoPunch
04-23-2006, 09:46 PM
That's exactly what I did. Power straight from the battery to the fan, 8ga wiring, 25A fuse, good grounding, Bosch relay, etc. Those fans draw a ton of current, and when you're sitting at idle the SR alternator doesn't put out much. Others have had the same problem, but I'm not claiming that all efans will do this for everyone.

Update on your car is good. I live by the clutch fan, as e-fans just don't do it for what I have needed. It was designed for a use, just can't figure out what it is. ;)

Off topic:
Your pictures of Japan are incredibly considerate of the beautiful areas you have visited. I severely envy your being able to visit every so often. I just don't have the time for trips and seeing through the eyes of another camera will suffice.

well i ve been running an e fan since the sr swap a few years a go and havent had any issues other then running a little warmer when driving it really hard o nwarm summer days.... but i have a feeling its because of my stock ka24e rad

i've seen 3 clutch fans lock up on a car and send pieces shooting everywhere. twice on a e36 325i and once on a s14. dented my friends hoods, cut into radiator, and cutting other hoses. not pretty, so im sticking with electric. well i really dont have the option to run clutch, but i would still get electric.

E36's are notorious for exploding fans. The fan delete mod is the first recommended thing to do when you buy one.

I was thinking about changing back to a clutch fan also with all these probs im having with my efan burning my relay/ and wires.

always loved your car neko.

but yeah...clutch fan for life. just recently put a clutch fan on my car. car runns cooler(maybe cause the efans i had were cheapo) but yeah. and engine bay looks cleaner without couple wires running here and there.
