that's not all fram filters. remember mass produced item, a failure rate always exists. You just got one of the defect ones. Any brand could have that happen.

I haven't bought a fram filter in years.. OEM Nissan/Mobil 1/K&N = good.

I just buy Bosch filters because theyre cheap and easy to find ($4.50 IIRC at Kragen)

The closest nissan dealer from my house is 35 minutes away. Blah.

I think the only reason why people buy Fram filters is for the no slip grip... it makes it much easier to change your filters..... until you buy a filter wrench.

um...I'm not sure if they will fit, but if they do they are the same thing. Nissan only has 3 filters. *Big Blue* and 2 smaller white ones. The smaller white ones are interchangeable, the blue ones are not, and that's what 240's use.

Get a relocation kit. You can use an XBOX HUEG SIZED Mobil 1 (with the same adapter as a Fram PH8A, Ford-type I think) like I do.

hmmm...useful info, but ive been using fram for over 10yrs on over 8 different cars and havent had a single problem...i guess i should consider myself lucky and start using other brands before something happens...

on another topic, bluuurrr, you have the worse luck with your car...first the hks and now this?...

Just so you guys know.

About 6 years ago there was a bit thing with fram filters. They were blowing up hella motors. Heres why.

If you take a new filter and look down the hole, there is a spring in there, the spring is what lets unfiltered oil through if there isnt enough oil pressure, that way the motor gets oil at startup. Then once it starts the spring opens and filters the oil. Well almost 100% of the fram filters never opened, and circulated non filtered oil the whole time, blowing up hella motors, and causing hella plague.

I only run K&N filters in every motor, from my fd, to my truck to my Girls s13.
Small investment.

Btw the mobile 1 filters are awsome. but they are made for the full synthetic low ash content oil that mobile offers. if you run a partial synthetic on a m1 filter, then it can break through the paper and cause probs.

Shock filtering.

yes, fram still blows ass.

K&N/Mobil 1 ftw. i run full synth and either of these filters (whichever is in stock/cheapest) and have never had a problem. spend the extra 2$ and do this stuff right. your engine will thanks you by not blowing up in your face.

VG30DETT & KA24DE now have the same filter... The VG30DETT 60U00 filter is no longer in production... If you can find a 60U00 your lucky... buy it...

For SR's... Thats a different story...

I have all the OE oil filters instock... for SR S13, S14, S15 and KA...
(except the 60U00)

Some time I ran Bosch oil filter, but from reading/browsing on the web, it looks like that Bosch oil filter's quality has decreased.

Fram does not make OEM honda filters. Hastings (the manufacturer of fram) used to, but now Filtech does. Even when they did, they were made to Honda's specs, and were not just rebadged fram filters. I used to be a Honda tech, right around the time of the switch, and was able to compare fram and Hastings made Honda filters side by side, and did. They were not the same. The Hastings & Filtech Honda filters were, however, nearly identicle. The only ways I found to tell them apart was the manufacturer logo, and the Hastings filters were shrink wrapped better. For awhile you could even specify which filter you wanted (IIRC Hastings filter part numbers were xxxxx-xxx-A01, while Filtech was xxxxx-xxx-A02).

i buy mobil 1 but i always check filters very carefully before installing them after i once had a filter that was missing an oil seal. what a disaster , oil everywhere. luckily i shut the car off like 2 seconds after i started it.

but if u have problems removing a filter, just buy the 10 dollar oil filter pliers...it makes removing a filter a 10 second ordeal. much easier than struggling with oily hands for 15 minutes and making 0 progress.

We changed oil and filter in a friends car ( to fram) and in 30 min. or so the lifters started ratteling. We changed the filter and the tapping was gone.
Ever notice how many ""orange"' filters you find in the cars with blown motors in the junkyards? All of them!!!! LOL!! I won't use them. Nissan for me.

Nissan OEM for the win, but I think I'm switching to K&N. SR20 filters are a biatch to get off, 1 inch nut should help.

Fram makes their filters out of recycled USPS boxes and soda cans. Tsk Tsk Logan. Hope you don't run that shizzle on the hatchback.

When I bought the car, I got 12 OEM oil filters. I'm still using them, although my supply is dwindling.

Can anyone vouch for the anti-drainback valve in a Wix?

I use K&N's on my SR relocator, and the oil drains out completely after 6 or 7 hours. this means the motor makes an ugly sound as it fills the filter back up before building pressure.

p.s. i feel bad about using a fram on my lawnmower

well if you buy the shittyest fram filter they sell what do you expect. i use to use fram but i have since stoped due to the fact that i found out that there filters have the highest failure rate. i now use wix filters from parts plus. they have a filter cartrage thats held in by coil springs in the actual filter. cost about $6

Hahah. True I guess I do have a bias, but still, they filter as good as a Mobil 1, plus have a 1 inch nut on top, plus don't explode, plus have a safety wire hole pre-drilled in. Who else does that????
