Ok just finished up the swap, this car had an SR running it previously. Same starter. Its getting power, and signal.. I tested it with a voltimeter, the ecu signal is getting there, and power is. I took the starter out and had autozone bench test it.. they said it passed and it should be fine... anything else not cause to crank? All i hear is a click, but when i take my foot off the clutch theres no click, so the clutch switch must be working. SR gurus help!

hmm...where are you hearing the clicking from??

is it from your relay or fuse boxes? if so check your relays, or just bypass them with a paper clip lols..that what i did.

i belive when you turn the key the passive belt box clicks also.

btw have you checked your battery??

becareful trying to start the car alot, you can possibly flood it. and kill fuses at the same time.

after you got it started up..was it able to turn over once again after you turned off the car?

Just because you hear the relay click doesn't mean it's working properly. It makes a clicking noise when you don't press the clutch.

Check your clutch switch to make sure the pedal is making contact. Sometimes the pedal falls off the track and misses the switch.

hmm check your lower harness to see if there is a good connection on the starter, alternator,etc... also check to see your battery too

when u say you just "finished" the swap. what of swap? another SR? or ka?

also check all your ground wires. make sure they are grounding out to the chasis. or engine

um i don't mean to bump, I did'nt want to really start a new thread. I have the same exact problem sr20 which the car had an sr before with the same harness, that is already proven to work.

Heres what i'm running into....

starter should work, sometimes when i jump it car starts no problem.
when the clutch is in, I hear a click.. without being jumped.
brand new battery, I actually tried 2 brand new batterys.

what i've tried:

the ground going to back on the engine. It was grounded to the valve cover, so i moved it and connected it where the catch can bolts onto. Sanded the metal clip that bolts onto the firewall.
sanded the ground that connects to the passenger strut tower.
bought a new positive and negative terminal.
brand new battery so connections are pretty clean.

am I overlooking any grounds?? anyways thank you.
