Took my friend Chris and his wife Andrea out to DF for the first time.
The kouki S14 you see next to my S13 is his.
He was like a kid in a candy store.

No, this is not MrMeph showing off his own car (except for the last couple pics :keke:), and we do not have a Regional Section for Japan. These have always been posted here, and will continue to be posted here. Thank you for your concern.

I miss my FC. :(
Those are some really good looking pictures, too. Just loved the family of FC's and FD's. I find myself more attracted to the R32's and 33's, more than the 34's. I guess that's what happens when you see/hear about them alot. On the 7th picture, I know it's an Infiniti, but what kinda Inf. is it?

....On the 7th picture, I know it's an Infiniti, but what kinda Inf. is it?

It's an Infiniti G20 (sold in the states between 1991-1996), also known as a Nissan Primera. I'm not sure if Nissan sold Inifiniti's in Japan back then, so it may be a Primera that has converted over with Infiniti parts.

I'm glad everyone is liking the pictures. I'm surprised nobody commented on the KITT lights on that first 180sx. The owner was highly impressed by my 180 and was very friendly. I *did* almost laugh when he was struggling to get his headlights into 'sleepy-eyes' position, recalling when I thought that was ultracool beans and doing the same thing.

Anyhow, I guess I'll respond to your questions..

Very Nice pictures. Any more of that FD? I might be going to japan this summer. Is this a everyday type of thing or weekly?

Sorry, what you see is what I have to share. All the pics I've taken are from Friday nights. Saturday nights are when the bozo crews come out to play apparently, but it's also when the gangs are out and things can be dangerous for gaijin. I don't know how true that last part is, and I want to make a trip out there on a Sat night before I leave Japan.

Thanks Mr. M for more photos. I saved most of the last set you posted. Are you going to get any more of the crazy Bozo cars? Those are my fav. I am obsessed with 70s Japanese cars these days
Hi Matt, see my reply above.

I'm sure you already knew, but yes - definitely a tripod. There's no way to get sharp long exposure images while hand-holding the camera. I actually used the timed shutter release as well so that my fat finger wouldn't shake the camera. I still need to get a remote release. I used the Canon EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM (http://consumer.usa.canon.com/ir/controller?act=ModelDetailAct&fcategoryid=149&modelid=7337) and EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 USM (http://consumer.usa.canon.com/ir/controller?act=ModelDetailAct&fcategoryid=149&modelid=10512). I needed to use the 18-55 because the 28-135 wasn't allowing me to get a wide enough shot. I really want an ultrawide lens so I can get right up on my subject and still get alot of extra background. edit: I never answered your question about ISO! ISO 100 across the board. I didn't need any more because there was enough light to make for a good exposure at 30 seconds.

I miss my FC. :(

The FC's were def. nice. The red one sounded the meanest. That car is most likely a Primera with G20 treatment (USDM craze). Nissan did sell some cars here under the Infiniti badge starting in the early 90s, including the Q45. I don't believe that that car happened to be one (I'm pretty sure they didn't sell G20 in stock form here).

Don't you get to choose where you want to be stationed at? Hell, I'm still waiting for my shipping date. I'm with you on being stationed in Japan.
Nope. Best chance you have of getting here is making in a clause of your contract. Best bet is to be Air Force, since they get the most people stationed out here.

that white 180 is sooooooooooooooo nice. great pics, i liked how it showed the sky.

The sky was crappy and overcast all damn day, and I was worried that it would rain, but it ended up clearing out and being a perfect night for pics.

Meph: Yea, I'm in the Air Force now. I'm just waiting for them to call and tell me when I ship. I'm pretty sure, even if I were to put Japan down as a choice, I probably wouldn't get it. Which base is good in Japan anyway? You know, the base that's not far from things like these? Anyways, sorry to get offtopic. So a Primera, eh? I'm gonna have to look into that.

eDit: Now I remember what I wante dto ask you Meph. Did you use a tri-pod?

No, you get options for places and it all depends whether your job is available at that base. On top of that, if theres an opening for your skill level for that job at that base. So if theres 1 slot for a 3 level cop straight from tech school and 30 of you suckas put the same base in your sheet, then your prolly gonna be assed out.

Hence...thats why they call it a "DREAM SHEET"

I put all west coast bases when i signed up cuz i was trying to stay close to cali, the furthest east coast base i picked was LUKE AFB, in PHOENIX AZ, guess wut....THEY SENT MY ASS TO NEW JERSEY!!!

You can negotiate with your detailer...as far as having a clause in your contract they won't do that. They never have and never will. The closest thing to getting guaranteed orders is if you are in an arduous dudty station and they will give you costal preference or platform preference...upon a re-enlistment.

For the Navy, the detailers have a list available, and you get to pick what you want from what is available to you, at that time, for your rating, and dependant upon your sea/shore rotation.

fliprayzin: if youve ever considered being an officer, cross-commissioned officers get pretty preferential treatment as far as i know. look into it if you wanna go to japan that badly. at least in the navy, youre almost always stationed somewhere near the water (duh!)... which is more than i can say for alot of army & CHair force bases...

Don't mean to cut into this thread, but CHair Force is no longer valid. While you may sit at your nice coastal bases and enjoy whatever body of water your near on you nice little boat (and I know what I'm talkin about, I'm a brat), I'm here suckin' sand and layin' lead. Ehhh all the services are pitching in now. Navy just sent a huge amount of ppl to training to go help the AF, Army and Marines stand guard duty. Sooo no one is 'exempt' from the war over there. Even our A/C maintainers are going. Guess the AF can't handle being over there more than 6 months or they have to pay you guys more...hahaha jkjk...:bigok:

Well......it's true. Remember, we're the weakest of the branch. We don't wanna go over with guns and fight. We wanna sit back, get fat and lazy, and drink our tea/beer, while watching the Marines and the Army, fight.
