We just had a major thunderstorm come through Iowa City, with hail, tornadoes, the whole nine yards. Apparently a tornado touched down about 3 miles from my house :bite: , thankfully we didn't get any damage. The hail was freakin huge! I picked these up in my back yard:

About 2.5 inches in diameter, about halfway between a golf ball and a baseball. The local news got reports of even larger hail in other areas. Thankfully, I've got a 3-car garage.:eek3d:

We got some in Wisconsin too about 20 minutes from dubuque. Luckily I was at work and didn't get a sprinkle just lots of lightning.

I rolled my car outside so I could work on this other kids 5spd swap. And then of course it starts to rain, so I throw a tarp on it. (No hood, engine in, windows down, no battery, and no steering to roll it anywhere safe) Then I heard the hail, OH FUCK. Grabbed every last clothing item I could find in my shop ran out threw them on the car, then I ran back in and grabbed the old carpet from my car, threw it on, then I grabbed some back seats that came with my clip, and threw those on. Then I waited.

Havent pulled the tarps and shit off yet, but I think shes ok.

I was so hoping I would come home and my Altima would be dented to shit. No luck though.

Surprisingly, I haven't seen any dented cars. Those things made a hell of a thud when they hit the ground, and it sounded like a stampede on my roof. I drove through downtown today to drop my wife off at work, a tornado must have gone through the center of the city. A dairy queen is destroyed, more than half the building is gone. The Dodge dealership across the street had it's roof completely ripped off and onto the lot, windows were blown out on a bunch of its cars. Downtown, I saw another building destroyed, with it's roof caved in. On the news I saw a sorority house severely damaged, most the roof gone and I think some walls missing. Lots of massive trees, with like 3 foot diameter trunks, are blown down all over the place, I saw one that just barely missed the house it was sitting next to. I'll try to get some pics later today.

There were reports of baseball size hail in the Milwaukee area by me. I didn't get any hail by me though.

I'm just glad I have the peace of mind of having a garage now.

Ahhh, Springtime in the mid-west.....flowers blooming and hail falling.

The severe weather hasn't started here in Colorado yet, usually early May when we start getting those types of storms.

And we cry like babies when we get rain here in Cali.... damn, I wouldn't want to be caught in one of those.

Glad to not see hail that big very often. We generally have milder storms(colder though)

They probably need a place to stay for a while, they can stay in my apartment here in SD until things get settled down.

Do you guys from up here remember that day last year when we had 27 tornados touch down in one day? We had to go into the tornado shelter at work for over an hour that day. Well one of our shelters is our breakroom. We actually got to watch one of them about 100 yards away. Oh ya I work in a glass factory, the perfect place to be when tornados are around.
