ok, when I turn on the a/c the car jumps to 1G of course.
So anyway, it doesnt come down and the other day my car overheated because of that.  Does that mean something cause my car never overheats and hasnt overheated since so it has nothing to do with the antifreeze nor the fan.  So the problem lies with the engine not going back down to 750rpm
Ideas as to why it doesnt go back down from 1G?<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='???'>?? &nbsp;thanks

your car SHOULD NOT OVERHEAT with that little bit of difference
look under the car while its running to see its dripping condensed water

well, ok, maybe it goes to like 1200, Somewhere around that area. &nbsp;I know it should never overheat but if a car never goes back down to 750 I would think that couldnt be good.
so yeah...I dont know, any more suggestions?

I just replaced the a/c idle up valve on my wife's celica. I am not sure where it is on the 240sx. We are not sure what year yuo have anyway. I would look on the vacuum diagram for that valve. Before I do that I would check your thermostat and check your coolant level. Make sure that you look inside the radiator,when the engine is cool, to see if there is coolant in it too. Rare instance when it will not suck coolant from the overflow, but it does happen.

I wonder if maybe your electric AC fan isn't coming on.

under the shroud.

I believe the valve he was talking about is called the FIAC Valve or Fast Idle Air control Valve. &nbsp;I don't think thats the issue though b/c your idle is indeed speeding up. &nbsp;

Again, I agree it has to be either:

1. Thermostat
2. A/C Fan
3. Coolant is low
