Hey guys whats up prob one of the my first posts but i'm trying to finish up my sr20 swap into my 92 hatch. Got the engine ready to go but we're having trouble bolting the tranny up... Whats the best way to do this.. we tried positioning the engine onto wood a little higher than the tranny and we just cant seem to get the tranny to slide in all the way... Any pointers, i wanna drop this thing in!!! Heres a few pics of what our setup is..

Um.. pick it up and put it into the tranny? if it doesn't slide onto the spline. get someone to turn the crank by hand.

1) make sure you align the clutch properly or it makes it difficult to slide in.
2) get the driveshaft and put it in the back of the tranny to turn the inner shaft while sliding the tranny in.
3) once you get it in far enough, get a bolt through to the block and tighten it if you can. impact gun will help pull it together, or with a rachet. be careful not to tighten it if the tranny still sits at an angle or it will strip the threads
dont need to do all three but every little bit helps
and im sure there are more ways, but thats all i ever needed

Nah, does not affect anything.
Make sure to put all the bolts so you cant overstress the bellhousing

looks like on the edge of being acceptable and not, if you are not properly torqued on all the sides, then you have a slight off center condition. but I think that would be so minimal dont lose sleep over it, although I do remember a really cool material that fixes situations like that, but I forget what it is. maybe i saw it on zilvia.

I dont wanna be the bearer of bad news but.....did you realized yet that you forgot to put the plate thats supposed to go between the tranny and engine? It goes behind the flywheel...id suggest you put that on.
Also, wut chu doing with the heater hoses on the back of the engine. Something looks off with the hoses. I'd suggest you prep em before you put the engine in. Last thing you wanna do is try to squeeze your hand between the engine and the fire wall trying to fix the heater hoses.

make sure to to X cross, when bolting those tranny bolts. its good because your not straining one side of the bell housing. make sure u give that spline a little lube. not too much! but just some. did you torque your pressure plate at the same pound all around?

I do not have that plate... i dont think. Too late the engine is in along with everything else.. What is that going to affect? Also how should the heater hoses be?
The one thats laying across the valve cover?

wow, you just screwed yourself over with that heater hose lol
You need a U holes and a S holes, use some of the old heater hard pipes to make connecting lines. tons of small clamps and dont kink the lines.

good luck.

Jesus christ thats an over kill. Follow NRGs example. The bottom pipe goes to the bottom heater core nipple. The top one, find a U hose and add more hoses to reach the top nipple.
Anyways as far as the plate...imma stick with my story...you need it. Remember, this is an SR, not a KA. Without that plate, there will be a large gap where the starter hooks up to the tranny bell housing. Shiet is not completely flush. All you need is to get some oil in there when you change your oil filter and that clutch will be fried!!! Thats just me, I wouldnt wanna drop the tranny again later down the road when my clutch starts sleeping cuz it got hella grime in it.

Make sure you bleed the crap out of it, the heater lines you fabed look higher than the bleeder. Watch the cooling temp, you sound like you are going to try it as is, be careful with the temp!!! It looks good otherwise though!!!

I always do things right the first time but I am so many hours past bolting the flywheel up... If my clutch gets ruined so be it, its a spec stage 3 6 puck unsprung anyway.. not the most comfortable to drive. Here we are as of yesterday.. just as we were finishing up we noticed I have no coilpack connector wires... heavy throttle must have put them somewhere and when i was packing up i didnt see them.

I don't know about you; but if I spent money on a clutch (especially one like that) and it got wrecked cause I didn't do things right the first time, I would be pretty mad at myself. Really, just pull your tranny off and put the plate in their; so what if it adds a couple more hours to the job...If your clutch does blow...you will have to do it anyway. Only then your going to have to spend even more money on yet another new clutch.

Hopefully they didnt unplug the coilpack harness and forgot to send it back with the main harness...

no i packed everything up myself when i was there for a few days.. they misplaced my original coils so they must have been with it. I didnt pay for that clutch, it came with the SR i had before. How hard is it to take the tranny off with it in the car?

A bit harder cuz of the transmission tunnel and also depends on wut engine mounts your running. Wut i usually do is connect the DP and use something to wedge between the DP and the chassis so itll pull the engine towards the bottom. It helps clear the tunnel a bit better and give you a bit more room.
