Will anyone be attending on Saturday, April 29th with NASA? Me and OptionZero are heading out there, we can't wait. We skipped it in February, but we already signed up for this one since it'll probably be the last time we can go in a while.
It's our first time. Anyone else wanna head out there? We're leaving from Davis.

I want to go! I am already taking the weekend before off, so my boss probably won't give me the time off.
Don't know if my car will pass tech though. SO much has changed since I last went to a NASA event. It was that Thunderhill even where I met you TurDz, and OptionZero. I was there with my brother, the two guys in black S14s. Hopefully I will make it and see you there!

Usually people get there around 6:30-7am. Drivers meeting is at 8am I think, and track goes hot at 8:30 or 9 I can't find a schedule for the day, but that is usually how it works.

awesome to hear so many peopel are doin a NASA event....i wish there were this many 240 owners on the east coast tryin to do the events...I am one of the few that do them out my way, hope you all enjoy the NASA event, itll prolly be awesome.
TurDz
04-09-2006, 10:43 PM
WhiteGLX, yeah...it's pretty cool. NASA is pretty good because of how many events they have in a year, and the places they have it (Infineon, Laguna Seca)..lots of GT4 World Maps...lol.

ive only been to 4 tracks over here on the east coast, nothing from the games, but all equally fun....im going to VIR Grand in about 2 months (4.3 mile course).

It is cool. One of the reasons to put up with the ridiculous cost of living out here is that there are so many racetracks in california. Infinion and Thunderhill in northern CA, Laguna Seca and Buttonwillow in central CA, and Willow Springs and California Speed Way in So. CA. I am sure I have left out a few, oval tracks and stuff.
Have fun at VIR! That track looks awesome.

So what day is everyone gonna go? I am planning on Saturday. Where does everyone like to go for tech inspection?
SpeedMonkeyInc
04-14-2006, 08:16 PM
Where are you in Cali? If you go to NASA website you can find a list of shops that do the tech near you. I go to Griffen Motorwerke in Berkeley.
Still don't know if I will go at all, car not running yet.
RightWheelDrive
04-14-2006, 11:51 PM
Well I'm all over Norcal, but Bay Area specifically. I know about the different locations for tech inspec. I was just wondering where everyone likes to go.:p I had some free time when was in Berkeley today and wanted to get a tech inspection because I knew there was a place(Griffen Motorwerke) there but unfortunatley I didn't know where it was:doh: .

INFINEON = BEST TRACK EVER
Nascar money funded facilities
huge huge huge paddock areas
TWO-PLY TOILET PAPER...TWO FREAKIN PLY! You know your venue rocks when they sport two-ply in the crapper.
Elevation changes, off camber turns, blind turns everywhere, esses upon esses...damn turns everywhere
i love it, great way to temporarily end my driving (back to school for me...)

The guys in the video aren't too good but I can see john's car and chris running around.
Overall, the event was the best time I have ever had with my car. It did better than what I expected it to do, aside from the overheating...fun fun.
Thunderhill anyone?

05-02-2006, 11:09 PM
At the end that guy with the helmet running around...thats Chris, hahaha
damn i'm only in there for like 3 secs
TurDz
05-02-2006, 11:46 PM
haha....wtf? I didn't even notice myself running around like that.
The track was awesome...one of the best I've been to ever (only been to 3 so far though...)
We'll get some awesome pics up soon, but my friend took 123mb worth, so it'll take a while.

There is also in-car video footage on google of the C6 corvette that was running in group1b.
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=4217783761918432927&q=infineon&pl=true
He wasn't very good. I was on his tail for the whole lap cause he didn't let me pass on turn 6-7 & 10 since he just pulled away on the striaghts but I did manage to get him at the start/finish straightaway with my NA KA:rawk:
Did you guys go out on the victory laps? Slow speeds and no helmets but one of the S2000 guys (white with blue roll cage) still almost spun out :keke:..and after that they ended the victory laps.
TurDz
05-03-2006, 01:14 AM
no I wanted to take Jason on it, but they ended it early. I was at one of the download sessions too.

To me he didn't seem bad, unless I'm just bad. But this Corvette was not pushing his car at all. Looks like he was running 35% of its potential. I think it's just the new car thing and all...doesn't want any room for error.
OptionZero
05-03-2006, 09:33 AM
I kept up with that Corvette in nearly every corner except one instance when i put 2 wheels off (But receovered, thank God).
I had a decent battle with the silver RX8 and silver WRX wagon, but the emergency vehicles forced me to slow down...plus all those conga lines that clogged up the carosel were annoying, i could have passed several cars there if the rules had permitted
infineon is great because with a NA KA, you HAVE to take EVERY apex, and take them correctly. If you do, you'll blast out of the corner with tons of speed...fuck it up and you're off or going too slow and ur FUBAR'd for the rest of the series of turns
it takes faith too since 3 and 4 apex at the crest of a hill, the exit of the turns are blind...just trust the track, stomp on the gas at apex and viola, you're comin out at speed and can setup for the next one
best story was turn 7, a hard right at the end of a short, short straight....and it leads into the first left hander in a series of esses. most people were taking it moderate breaking and gently turning around it, hugging the apex for alot of the berm....jason and chris and i went up to the grand stands and, through photographic comparison, saw that you could take the turn later, brake harder, turn sharper, and exit straighter, with greater speed to set up for the rest of the esses...
it WORKED< and my instructor was like...damn, how'd you guys figure that out? i like this line better than the normal one!
hahaha infineon...to good
