Volvo oppinons?

I'm looking at picking up one of the older (early/mid 90's) Volvo station wagons. You can get em for cheap, they last forever, there are actually some small performance things out there for them, and it comes turbo stock =)
I was just wondering if anybody had any experience with them, Ive never personally done any labor on them. How are parts? How is reliability?

I have a friend whose family all drives volvo's. 240DL's and the like. He's had 2 rx7 FB's, and his volvo is his daily beater. does that say much? haha.

Also, they've won shitloads of races, and they're safe as FUCK.

My mom has always, and probably will in the future, driven Volvo's. They are extremely reliable, her old one had 320,000 miles. I joked to my dad about putting a boost controller and upping the boost without telling her.

screw the newer ones though.

Basically I think after Volvo switched to their newer platforms, which are FWD based, their quality went down a bit, but they are still very safe.
