View Full Version : regular problem stupid question
hello, i had problem with my car, i hace serch and find the problem, i have the code 12 about the maf, i find out it may be a bad ground, a friend told me the maf ground is the white calbe, but when i ground it the idle is lower now, around 500-600 when i try to rev it keep bounceing like a rev limiter around 2500 O_o
now the stupid question... what color is the ground in the maf O_O

What engine? What MAF?
Whatever wire you grouned caused the engine to go into safe mode, thats why you are getting the bad idle and 2500rpm rev limit.
so what is the ground of the maf O_o
so, nobody know what color wire is the wround? O_o
i tried serch and only talk about SR maf =/

download the FSM man, it will save you tons of heartache and waiting for replies. anyways, it looks like pin 3, and it should be black according to the wiring diagram. if you are really unsure, disconnect the ecu, then disconnect your maf and shoot wires to ground. only one of them should shot to ground with everything disconnected and that will be your ground wire. if any others do, you need to dig into schematics, but i would say they are shorted. also a bad maf could cause this problem as i am sure you know. check maf voltage per FSM. hope that helps. the grounds for the maf seem to be the one on the intake manifold towards the firewall, there are two of them.

yeah idk about 'shooting wires to ground' the ecu sends voltage to the maf and if you ground it thats a direct connection to ground with no load and resistance and that might fry the ecu. the black wire is ground- zeroyon.com get the fsm. if you look at the schematics, that ground and alot of other grounded sensors follow/tap into that same ground wire at connector ,F20, an engine ground near the injectors. you can ground that black maf sensor directly to engine, you'll esencially be doing the same thing. hope that helps.

ill be nice about this. you need to learn to read properly before you go posting. If you were to read it correctly, you would see that i told him to disconnect the ecu and the maf and then shoot wires to ground, making sure none of the other wires are shorted (by the way, i am an avioncis technician on F-16's, I know i thing or two about electronics and wiring). In doing this he would be checking the actual ground only, because if the ecu was connected how would he know what kind of readings to expect, unless you know what the numerical values of the insides of your ecu are.

isnt ground usually always the black wire?

yeah but you dont want to assume anything when it comes to wiring.
