sohc trouble

my buddy just got his motor rebuilt. as he went for startup there was a no start with a back fire. also alll the ac components was removed. he took out the motor and checked timing, fuel and compresion. and still the problem persists. any ideas? thanks. and mahalos...

I would recheck timing, just to be sure, Check fuel pressure, And like ''echo'' said check spark. But with the back fire I think it will be timing somewhere.

thats what we thought but we check the timing 3 times already and still.

the motor was out, so I would recheck to see that everything is hooked up, all the wire harnesses, GROUNDS. ect.

check your distributor you could be 180deg off.. happend with mine it would just crank and backfire.
