Does anyone have a Sparco EVO in a S14?
I recently purchased one, and decided to install it today. Well I soon discovered that the door panel hits the seat with the door closed. It appears the the seat is just a little bit too wide. Has anyone had this problem before with this seat in the S14?
I'm thinking either remove the door panel, or cut part of the door panel out to make it clear. I wish it would just clear, but it appears that it's not going to even with the adjustment in the rails (I'm using the Nagisa Auto Super Low Rails).
Thanks.

ouch. I don't have experience with this but if your taking more opinions I would sell it and save your panel the abuse. Thats just my opinion - i like to keep it clean

Maybe the Sparco Rails would make it fit a little better? Is there any room between the console and seat, or is the seat just too wide to fit in there at all?

Two questions:
1. Evo or Evo2? Evo2 is wider by design...
2. Are both your seat to rail and your rail to floor joints shifted as far as possible inboard?
If the answers are Evo and Yes, your last chance it to try the Sparco rails...

another thought could be to drill some new holes in your floorboard to shift it over more, not sure how much room ya got or need to go but if ya decide to drill just make sure you dont hit any wires or lines :D

yeah, adjust the nuts and bolts, play with the tightness and shit
if you're gutsy, pull out the power tools and drill away
if not, sell and replace

1. It's a EVO. Hence the thread title. No EVO2 here.
2. The seat and the rail is shifted as far inboard as possible. There is actually a lot of room between the console and the seat, but I have no more adjustment in the rails.
I'm rather suprised that this seat doesn't fit. I didn't think this would be a problem at all, but I guess I figured wrong.
It looks like I'm just going to take off the door panel for now (this is a dedicated track/weekend car anyways), and the rear is already stripped out with a 4 pt roll bar. I'll probably end up making some custom light-weight door panels to hold the electronics and give me more room.

no way i'm redrilling the stock mount points. It wouldn't help anyways. The rear right mount point is already on the tranny tunnel, so it can't go further inboard anyways.

Sounds like the mounts are the problem here. Is the seat centered to the steering wheel?

I have a Recaro with Bride rail in mine and it fits exactly the same as your describing. Jammed into the door panel but about 4" of clearence between the center console and the seat.
Not sure what the design of the Nagisa rail is, but I'm just cutting the welds on the bracket where they mount to the sliders and moving the sliders over 2", then rewelding.

I'm wondering if it has something to do with that fact that the rails are made in japan. It seems like the rails are made for RHD cars, but they have the seatbelt mount point it the correct location. It's really strange.

I think it's just that the rail is not made specific for the seat. As far as my situation goes, Recaro made rails for 240's but you can only get them on japan auctions or a chance finding in classifieds. 2 people I have spoken to got the Recaro rails and their seat fits perfectly.
I've never seen the Nagisa rails in person, but I'd be willing to bet they are made to similar specs as bride rails, so other seats may be slightly off.
I tried messing with mine again all afternoon, even cutting and moving the sliders slightly results in me having to move the seat belt bracket and the rear inner mounting point to clear the side of the seat. I think I'm just going to keep my eye out for a Recaro rail on the japenese auction pages....
oops, used Dave's screenname.

yeah, I think the rails are just really generic.
I put the seat in (took the door panel off), then realized it was leaning to the left. Now i had to put the left rear mount point one bolt higher to level the seat. Something is really strange. I've never had so much freakin trouble trying to put a stupid seat in.

i HAD this same problem with my bride rails. the problem wasn't the rails. it was that we installed the top plates wrong. they are not supposed to be centered on the rails. post a pic of your rails and ill try to explain.

btw is anyone having problems with seats sitting too high in s14's? my seat was hitting the roof.

your SEAT is hitting the roof?!? I know S14's suck and all (jklol), but seriously. I have a zeta III in my S13 and I probably have 8" of clearence before the roof.

i have an evo in my s13 and i had to modify the seat rails and make the seat sit a little bit higher.
i have just enough room for a helmet.
the seat rails use stock s13/s14 brackets and the universal brackets that come with the seat. it sits pretty much perfect

I have Sparco reclining seat w/ Wedge Engineering rail..
The seat was too high, and the width was tight but okay..
so I ordered Bride rail..I hope Bride rail is lower enough for my seat..

My EVO is fine in my S14. I don't know about store bought rails though, I made mine. But works fine with those! haha

Is it true?
I thought Bride MO would work..
Then.. wht kind of rail should I get for my Sparco reclining seat?

Well, I got the whole rail things figured out, but I now want my seat to go lower.
My car is a track car with a 4 pt roll bar. Right now, with my helmet on I can fit my hand sideways (about 1 inch clearance roughly)inbetween the roof and my helmet. I want to go a little lower, incase I ever roll the car. I'll be using a harness, so I need some good clearance incase the roof comes down a bit.
I'm probably going to get a fab shop to modify my rails to make them about a inch or so lower.

I vote for that, because I'm about 6'1" or so and I have more space then that between me and my B-A pillar bar, I haven't even looked at the roof, but it's quite a ways from there. Only issue is with the driver side, b/c the body is contorted for the trans you can only go so slow =[. but right now my seat has about a 2 mm or less clearance from the body and it's good for me. And making seat rails shouldn't be more than a couple hours worth of labor, so watch out for that.

Speedmonkeys setup of Sparco Corsa and Bride FG rails did not work, I forget why exactly
MO is a bottom mount bracket, the seat is too correct? As long as it lines up its good, I dont know how the holes on the bottom of a bride seat compare to those of a sparco it terms of lining up though

got any pictures of your seat/rail setup? I'd be curious to see what it looks like. Thanks.

sorry to dig this up but my brother just recently installed Sparco EVO bucket seats in his S14 with nagisa rails and they fit fine.
