I have some problem with the alternator on my S14. I start up the car, the voltage on the battery keeps on dropping, and finally stall. What lead to this problem ? Is it just fuse ? Or it's time for a new alternator. But I believe if the engine can start, which means there is no problem with the alternator.
Please advise ASAP. Thanks.

the alternator/generator has nothing to do with a car starting its there for the sole purpose of recharging the battery.
if you r voltage on your battery is dropping after recharging it then your alternator is definately at fault here. its not working .
first see if any of the power wires from the alternator are loose or corroded. my buddy replaced 4 alternators on his se-r everytime i told him to see if his wires where good then finally the 5th time he told me he tugged on the wire and it just came off.
so check the easy stuff first <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'> main problem is near your alternator

I thought alternator work as a starter when the engine is not running. And as a charger as the engine is running. Because it is just a simple electric motor. I check all the wire and nothing is loose. Is there any other possibilities ?

From what you're explaining, that's a for sure sign that you're alternator is going out. You could try rebuilding it, but you'd probably end up spending more to rebuild it and besides, it's faster if you just replace it. And the alternator is not like a starter, it's job is to keep the battery charged and also supply various electrical components. Hope this little tidbit helps you on your problem.

Thanks for your advice. Then I am probably not going to replace it because SR swap will be done in 3 weeks, but I just don't want to see my car ... doing nothing on my driveway. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/eh.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':eh:'>
