I am thinking about buying a LSD.
Has any one drifted with helical LSD? Is it not good at all for drifting?

do you know what drifting is?
do you know what's desireable during a drift?
do you know what a helical does?
do you know what most drifters use?
Look for the answers to those questions, do a little thinking, put the answer together.
It's not perfect, but it can be done.
If you buy a helical specifically for drifting, though, you haven't done your homework.

I think he needs to stop buying stuff, stop posting, and actually drive the car at some events.
Talking to people at events and riding will probably teach you more than internet drifting ever will.
Hell, I don't drift and still probably know more than that dude does.

He does ask alot of basic questions.
Xagna you need to save your money, drive your car, find the less desirable attributes of your car. THEN modify. You're buying way too much with way too little (knowledge that is.)

You are smart, Option Zero.
Just reading someone's writings online, you think you know a lot about the person.
1st of all, I am a beginner in drifting. I have been drifting with open diff and people have been telling me to get adapted to LSD
2nd, I buy stuffs in the quantity that you think is a lot. You feel like I buy a lot of stuffs because everytime I buy something, I ask a question on this forum. That is because I don't know too much about cars yet, unlike you experienced ones.
3rd, I do drift. I don't just buy stuffs for my car. I buy them and put them on my car. and I drift. I was at a local event a week ago and I came to a point that I better get LSD before I adapt wrong habit of flooring gas pedal.
If you don't want to help out, it is o.k. Just don't say things about someone you never met but only heard about.
Option Zero: "Hell, I don't drift and still probably know more than that dude does."
Get a life, option zero. You complain too much. You don't even drift and you complain about someone who makes too many questions because he wants to mod his car better and drift better.

Hey, I'm not smart. Just less stupid than others in some areas.
1. If you have an open diff, you aren't drifting. You're just sucking
2. If you don't know much about cars, then why are you buying shit? Spending money without first spending time is stupid.
Do blind people shop for paintings?
3. If you go to events, then you should talk and ride with other people there. We also have a search function where nearly everything has been covered before.
You've never met me, but you're offended by what I say? Nice little paradox there. If indeed I'm insignificant, then you wouldn't have felt the need to type a response to me.
Repeat:
Stop posting.
Drive more.
Stop spending.
Despite spending all my time "complaining," I still have time to rice out my car with "non-drifting" parts and to "nondrift" my car everyday on the way to work/home....and learn more about 240sx's, automobiles in general,...oh, and about lame people like you.

Do you know which business sells the Nismo GT Pro LSD?
Am seriously considering that one. I think Jspec can get them for like, $1500. A tad more (like $500 more) than what the SSS used to cost no?

You wrote that because you wanted to mask your anger at my follow ups.
You are pissed off because you see me spending money and you can't.
Anyway, if you don't drift, don't give out advice like "it can be done...". Make safe trips to grocery store near your home.
Dousan_PG, no thanks. I have seen a guy ruining his evening at a parking lot because of an used LSD he bought from a friend. Give yours to your dog.
If you guys don't like to me, a beginner, posting questions, have your forum moderator suspend my id. Or have him make a new subforum for beginner tech questions and don't show up there. I speak with a lot people at the events but still chooses to seek more answers online.

too bad for him. ive had used LSDs many time never a problem. dont own a dog, but does your Gf count? bwahahahahahahahah i couldnt resist. too funny.
used lsds are fine, most need rebuilds, like mine. but its cheap to do iirc mines a kaaz and kaaz usa is like 10 mins from me, ill rebuild it and sell it. so cheap. but sell em high. or save it for a spare. i got a few extra final drives so might as well throw it in one of those diffs.
i bought the SSS about 4 months before the GT PRO came out...it was so cheap cheaper then a street NISMO .
anyways no idea so sideways.
use the search mode u can answer everything there
i had a Helical LSD for a bit..wow what a POS. dont do it for drifting!

There's a link to the beginner forum in the upper right. It's mislabeled, some idiot put S-E-A-R-C-H on the button.
As for you spending money and my inability to do so...you're so retarded it's not even funny.
Monetary spending is no measure of success or intelligence: look at the Mets, Yankees, Knicks, Redskins, the ricers who own $20k paint schemes but can't out run a stock Accord driven by your grandma.
Comparing "mod lists" is fuckin stupid, almost as stupid as you comparing yours to mine.
Zilvia is a watering trough full of information, not an IV tube where people strap you to a machine to get what you need. Get on your knees and bend over and you'll find what you're looking for. Stand up and lift your chin, you'll die of thirst.

honestly, get a vlsd. its a good starter lsd. you can find em for like 200 bucks if you look hard enough, just put flush and go. (or was it go and flush?) anyways, get that, its a good starter one, you dont need to go full lock (welded) or spend 800 bucks on a 2way, that you will probably end up spining out or crashing because you arent experienced enough going from open to 2way. go with a vlsd, and you'll be set. for now. learn to control the car good with that, save up, buy a drop in lsd for an open diff, and throw it in. bam, end of story.

I completely.... disagree.
Most VLSDs are garbage by now. Not only that, you encounter man of the same problems as the Helical while drifting. Trust me, its not good. Its alright if you have a street car you drive in the mountains and ocassionally you let the rear slide out a bit (mainly a grip car). No problem. But you will abused the shit out of that thing in a full drift car and it will suck hardcore. THere IS a difference btwn accelerating out of a corner a little hot and sliding the rear out a bit vs. piting the car towards a wall in 3rd gear and laying on the gas. In the latter situation, VLSD sometimes acts like an open diff b/c there is so much unloading of the inside wheel, it will sometimes start spinning only that one, despite the viscous fluid trying to lock the diff.
If you're a cheap ass, a welded diff is better than nothing. If you are serious, just get a 1.5 or 2-way. Depending on your driving style, a 1.5 is sometimes more beneficial.

+1. A VSLD just won't react the way you need it too. It will ultimately hamper your efforts learning to drift.
Welded diffs are FUN! Especially if all you care about is sliding.

:stupid:, aside from that though, I'm going to have to agree with the point that comparing mod lists or money spent is fucking stupid. I know people who have pent very little on their car and can outperform people who have spent much more. Trying to come on to a forum and call someone poor is just boo boo:hahano: And just to let you know LSD isn't going to make you Mr. JDMtyteYODrifter man, it would certainly help, but judging by the things you've said, you don't know much, so I'm going to naturally assume that you can't drive for shit. But it's ok, I have an instructional DVD, watch it and you'll be drifting like Takumi in no time.

guys guys...dont start crapping all over vlsd's they suck blah blah. remember, this guy is a newb. its not going to be going full lock into a 3rd gear corner. i mean, he's still drifting with an open diff. vlsd is going to be a 'decent' start lsd, when he breaks that, either decide to go with a welded, or an actual 1.5/2 way.
i'm sure this guy is going to freak out if he were to get an actual lsd or welded right now, and crash. then you are going to be having to deal with posts about how to fix his noobalicious car. haha, whatever, i say the kid should get vlsd. or maybe he should just get whatever he can afford.

What the fuck is everyone's problem? Damn. I dunno... to me, this guy just wants to learn how to drift. So the fuck what, everyone starts sometime.
Why do people say "Oh you're a beginner, you aren't gonna know the difference." I agree, if you are on a budget or don't know if drifting is what you wanna do, don't spend a LOT of money setting the car up for drift. But if you are into drifting and know you'll stick with it.... you gotta put out the cash, man. At least for the essential stuff (LSD, bucket seat, coilovers, suspension arms... then wheels, tyres, and power).
Beginner drifter. Ask question about HLSDs. No. They suck for drifting. VLSD sucks to. Get clutch type or Welded. Welded diff is cheapest out of all the diffs you can get. Clutch type is best but most expensive (sometimes). DONE.
