Their is a screen in the Mass air flow sensor.  I know that in many v8s etc that you can remove the screen, and mildly port the Maf sensor itself.  The screen is normally used to "straighten" the airflow, and give a correct reading, but it is also a hinderance in flow.  By removing it in muscle cars, you can lean out the A/F mixture artificially by having the PCM think it is getting less air than it actually is.  Can you do the same on a 240sx?

Any other free mods to a stock 240sx?

isn't that screen actually the wire that gets heated up in order to measure the flow?

We did this on my buddies 3000GT VR4 so I thought I would do it on mine.  I took the MAF off and there is no screening in it.  Not sure if it is the same for all S13's but mine didn't have any screening in it at all.

mine didn't either, except for the actual sensor coil!  I have never seen a screen in a MAF.  If you are sure that the screen isn't what judges the amount of air, and there is a coil somewhere behind the screen then go ahead.  Just make sure your engine managment is good or else!!!!!!

the maf screen is there for a reason. it helps keep debris out of the tb and from entering the intake manifold.

on quests the main problems is the screen which gets a build up of dirt over time and causes the car to idle like shit. i would leave it there the amount of air it holds back is very minimum.
