Just got a set of these and they came with 225/55/16 on the rears, and one tire went flat/exploded. My buddy has a pair of yokos 255/45/16 or 255/50/16 laying around. Will these fit without pulling the rear fender?

edit: I have a S13

here's a pic of the rims on the car. Car is lowered but not tucking the rims.

get some spacers, your car is not that low to have to "tuck in"

the 255's will be temp if they fit, I want to run 225's or 235's when I get some new tires. I just don't want to pull the fenders for a temp setup.

i think 225/235 are pretty big as it is, i know as far as stretch, for an 8" wheel u can do 205's (i did 195's on my hachi) and it's still kind of mild. but i guess if you're gonna rock new tires in a bit it makes no difference.

not sure what type of yoko's you own but i'd go to tirerack to compare the sizes. here's a link.

I just got some 245/40/17 and will put it on a 17x8, I tried getting the 9 inch rim but it is backorderd for a month, hopefully they fit good, otherwise gonna put these rims up front and put on the 215s i have, and wait for the rears. 245 looks awfully big so i donno bout 255.

i don't think he's planning to stretch, obviously. 235 even 245 are the sizes that should go on an 8' in the first place.

ok I used a wheel calculator and got this
Size------------Diameter---------Cir.
225/55/16--------25.7-----------80.9
255/50/16--------26.0-----------81.9
255/45/16--------25.0-----------80.9

I don't know how much the side walls will bulge. Or even if this is doable for a temp fix.

OK, so how do you drive your car? That's the first question.

8" rim "should" be fit with a 245, as was mentioned above, 255 will work fine, 235 if you want an uber stiff sidewall. Any narrower and you're just wasting rim. Unless of course you don't really care about handling, and want the "stretched" look. I'm running 245's on 8" rears on my autocross car now...

I do long canyon runs every other weekend, few short night runs during the week and will be doing auto x this yr. So grip is important to me.

The 225's/55's on the 8's seems a lil strenched right now.
