So, I'm driving along (right in front of a church ironically) after just signing a lease for my new appartment. So I'm in a good mood, and the new place has a garage, so I was thinking that my 240 would look better since it won't have nearly as much bird shit on it.
There's a truck with a stack of scaffolding (sp?) on it on the sidewalk (later found out they were cleaning the stained glass on the church), and right as I'm passing a strap breaks , and all these steel peices of scaffolding come sliding off into the road. Luckily there is no one coming the other way, so I swerve over the double yellows into the other lane. So instead of hitting the side of my car, most of it hit my bumper. I ran over a few peices, but nothing under the car was damaged. As a result, the front bumper cracked in 2 places, and my fender is slightly bent in above the wheel well.
Body shop estimates run from $900 to $1300.

Wait a minute. Shouldn't the truck people responsible for having the stained glass pay for it? I mean, it was a freak accident, but they should still be repsonsible for it going all ove the road.
But then, you are taking money from a church
At least it can be repaired.
Congrats on the garage! I love having one and I dread not chaniging my oil, cleaning, and housing my car in a garage when I go to college.

They said they will pay for it, so I'm getting estimates from body shops and will fax them over to them, so its not as bad as I originally thought.

Yeah, accidents suck. That's for sure. It's good that the guy came forward and said that he would pay for the damages. You don't see that happen much any more.

My insurance company is giving me a hell of a time with the claim I put in when the guy ran into me.

Insurance companies suck, you pay in all this money and when it's time for them to pay, they give you hell. I am thinking of doing the same to them next time that my bill comes in the mail. The only company that has never given me a problem is USAA, for all you military guys out there. They are outstanding... BTW I just finshed active duty Air Force and joined the Reserves...
