Anyone see this thing? Looks like a nice stealth upgrade.

Doesn't look too stealth. How many of the cars listed come with Black tipped exhausts stock? I think a Black canister with chrome tips is more stealthy (like mine). I wouldn't mind hearing it though. True stealthy exhaust should be quiet (not like mine ).

I rest my case. A sporty car with an all black muffler is un-natural. A Camry is not a sporty car. :p

I don't think it's that stealth. The fact that it is black can't hide the huge ass exhaust outlet on it.

This one definitely is, $79.99 from summit, and hell, you can get tips dirt cheap:
http://static.summitracing.com/global/images/prod/large/flo-953045_w.jpg
or you could swing a little less for a muffler that is silver and then grab a $6.00 can of flat black and do it yourself.

ahem that is one expensive exhaust that does not look quite stock. hahahhha
Here's the deal folks, you want stealth and bone stock looking with high flow? One muffler name Magnaflow! part #12198 3 inch inlet to dual 2.5 outlets. Satin stainless steel. Which means unpolished stainless steel. Paint it black, put on a pair of tips . Looks bone stock. That with a custom 3 inch exhaust using mandrel bends. total max costs $250-350 depending on the particular high performance muffler shop you go to. Lots of them do it.
My new setup is going to be that muffler connected up to a 3.5 inch mandrel bent ST May exhaust that came off a clip. Total costs to me $250 max with purchase of the muffler and the exhaust.

IMO the Apexi WS on an N/A engine sounds VERY nice and super smooth, not loud at all (at least on the VQ30DE).

This is a good change for Apexi, since most people who are interested in the World Sport want something that sounds nice, but doesn't attract attention, audibly or visibly.

I like the exhuast, and like someone mentioned above, it looks just like an IS300 exhaust, which is one of my favorite designs.

I remember a while back it was either Kakimoto or Fujitsubo that had an exhaust system that's black and had dual tip just like the stock 240sx exhaust, but with 80mm piping thought. As for the Apex'i NOIR, I think it's cool. I wonder how it would compare against the RSR EXMAG? I think the EXMAG has the best tone and look so far.

Went and got my exhaust done this morning, I was interested in a black muffler, so I bought one from summit racing and flat-blacked it myself, then went and got it all done at this little shop in Burlington, NC, who was more than willing to help me out. I have compiled some photographs, they are in no particular order, meaning this is not the order in which I took them.

... I asked to have it sit far enough in to appear stockish:
http://img97.imageshack.us/img97/1217/exhaust13vc.jpg
3" piping from (and including a new) cat back please ignore that my old muffler did a number on my bumper:
http://img319.imageshack.us/img319/193/exhaust26uy.jpg
nice coating of 1200 degree hi-temp black before I took it to the shop, but welding kinda scuffed that a little:
http://img319.imageshack.us/img319/3766/exhaust38hv.jpg
a pic to allow one to see it on the car from distance:
http://img319.imageshack.us/img319/9920/exhaust41tx.jpg
snapped a couple while still on the lift:
http://img364.imageshack.us/img364/2055/exhaust54td.jpg
guy that did it, whose head you can see in the left corner here, went behind himself and went over the welds with hi-temp silver, apparently he cares what his work looks like:
http://img364.imageshack.us/img364/176/exhaust61vy.jpg
I guesstimate the lowest point in the system to be about 4-5" inches off of the ground, but I have short arms and can't reach that far to measure:

$37.95 for the first muffler, $51.88 for the rear one, $8.44 for the tips and $6.00 for a can of flat black paint.
... your local muffler shop can handle the cost of putting it all together for you.

Barry and I have the same setup, basically, only thing different is the tips and the shops where we had them done, same mufflers and such... We'd been discussing it on IM for weeks.
It is as loud as one might expect a 3" system to be on an NA car, but the tone is very deep and quite pleasing, in my opinion.

exactly why I dumped my Buddy Club Spec II. I would have gone with custom piping on the new setup, if was not for the fact that I got the ST May 3.5 inch system that comes out in the stock location for $120. I am taking the stock single output muffler off the ST May and putting on a Magnaflow 3 inch 2.5 inch out dual tip MPE 12198. The tips on that muffler are the exact same width as the stock tips.
HKS used to make the dual dragger which was a dual pipe system that came out in the stock location and looked very stock.

Apexi Noir < Black Spray Paint

If you use "high heat" spray paint (the kind that you need to bake to stick) on your exhaust it'll come out flat black. DO NOT BAKE IT. The best part is it wipes off with some elbow grease. Then all you need is an ECV and you have a super awesome SOCAL setup. :D

P.S. the dual outs are spaced closer together than the one Phillip and Thatguy bought. These Magnaflows are a little more expensive ($80 buy it at your local muffler shop or Summit) but in my book its worth the extra cash.
I know Magnaflows are really good mufflers and its a straight through design for high horsepower. Plus i have run the longer version of this muffler on a couple of cars already and was very pleased with the results both with a SR car and a RB car.

Longer Mufflers can handle a greater tone range. So, you want as long as a muffler as you can get. The wider(girth) a packed muffler(magnaflow) the greater the Pressure handling. More pressure the quieter it can make the exhaust.

that depends on the frequency of the exhaust pulses, and that depends on the motors. You can have a muffler be too wide and therefore make the sound loud again. It's something that tunes sound.

Anyway, i just wanted to add.

In my case I am going with the 14 inch case one because its right around the same size as the muffler that came on the ST May catback.
On the other cars we have done it has been the 18 inch case. It will be interesting to note the difference. Of course on the customs there was no resonator and the ST May has a healthly resonator on it.

Ya its flat black, but its still a single out which is definitely not stock looking. The reason Thatguy,Phillip and I have gone with the Mufflers we have, is because they are dual tip out. Now depending on the dual tip Muffler, it either looks extremely stock or very close to extremely stock. Single tips don't look stock, the cars never came with single tip.

Drift Freaq,

I was wondering how does your or your customer's set up with Magnaflow muffler sound? Is it loud?
its nice in my opinion, its not extremely loud. It is in fact no louder than a G35 or 350z running stock exhuast, to give you an example. My customer rolls on cops all the time and they do not even look at him. It has a low deep sporty sound. On my friends SR its not loud either. If you get on it its aggressive but not offensive or noisey.
