View Full Version : Identify REAL Greddy Oil Pan?

We all know about the Freddy pans on ebay, but are the copycats getting more skilled? There are now pans being sold by what I could consider to be legit vendors, at Greddy prices :jerkit: that have "SR20" cast into the front and a small "Greddy" between the fins on the bottom. The casting looks in the pictures to still be questionable... (Sorry, I didn't link it.. search "sr20det oil pan" and you'll get them)
The nicer pans (and from off-ebay vendors) have a large "Greddy" logo centered on the bottom, with a hollow on the pan interior on the backside.
Both are being sold as "Greddy", so I guess the question is did Greddy change their pan design to better separate real from fake, and these are just some old design real pans? Or are these vendors now charging full prices for "new and improved" fakes?

i were you i'd get them from a legit online shop. Those ebay items are so tricky sometimes when you get the item you'd have swore they were real. Most of the time they are fakes.

what's wrong with the fake oil pans? They don't cool oil or hold as much as the real ones?

Basically comes down to quality of manufacture. Casting is not as clean as the Greddy. Some have questioned the porosity and tolerances of the knock off.
I have the knock off Diff cover. It hasn't leaked yet. I had not been cleaned from the casting. Just milled and taped then shipped. I soaked it in a tub of soapy water overnight then scrubbed it with a scotch brite pad. There was a lot of alum particles on the bottom of the pan. Once it was cleaned it looked 10x better. One of the baffle bolts wasn't drilled on center. I trimmed the baffle a little with the dremel and it was all good. Haven't leaked so far.
I dunno about your oil pan. would worry about the pickup clearance.

someone on this board bought a Greddy knockoff, and it was so porous that the oil was seeping right through the bottom of the pan.

They just did an article in one of the mags on that oilpan. Maybe it was Turbo mag that's out now. Casting is the main difference and that it isn't made by Greddy. Why take the chance with a knock-off product that is very crucial in having a reliable engine>? :wtf:
Btw, I hope that I'm not referring to anyone here. lol

I have a GReddy and I'm looking underneath it as I write this. There is a big circle with GReddy written in the middle.
The casting is beautiful on this thing, I seriously scrubbed the hell out of it and a very small amount of particles came out, baffles look great, aluminum doors swing nicely, great hardware......
All in all, don't skimp out on the oil pan please...thanks.

just order it from phase2, zilvia sponsor and biggest greddy distributor on the west coast.
it where most shop from the east coast order from.
and you'll never have to worry about getting a fake one.

Haha 4 year old bumps are freakin' awesome. To throw in my 2 cents, I believe it is supposed to say Trust on the bottom, not Greddy. I remember mine saying Trust, and trust me...it was not ebay.
Here, found a couple pictures on my computer of my old one. This is how mine looked, and it was 100% legit.
