Basically the way I see it, they're turning the NFL into Highschool footbal somewhat.

Yay, the Lambeau leap is still alllowed.
I guess thats one of the advantages of a football team owned by the fans.:w00t:

^^^ Wait, I can readily concede that some of the shit that was being done was a bit overplayed and unsportsmanlike. My thing, however, is that if little shit like living it up with the cheerleaders, dancing or something, so long as it does not include props that were not already there, or remains close enough to the playing field so as to not interrupt the game is not allowed, how is the Lambeau Leap?
NFL is just getting fucking stupid.

According to the article, the rules governing player behavior are being set per team by the team owners and managers, who have been told to do them by the NFL. The Packers are the only NFL team to be publicly owned by thousands of their fans, (and all the shareholders are allowed to attend the shareholder's meeting) so I can see how a team that is so fan-based would be allowed to keep a signature move like that.

Okay, so I understand why it can happen, but I still say that it is on some bullshit that it can, in precedented comparison.

Stuff like T.O. signing a ball with a sharpie he had in his sock during the prior play is the kind of thing that pisses me off. If I were the coach I would have been pissed.

In my opinion players spending time planting/planning props for celebrations instead of just playing football detracts from the game. This isnt the WWF where foldup chairs are commonly hidden under the ring and pulled out at optimum moments. The NFL is turning into the "look at me" league and it sucks.

Disagreed, if this were planning of celebration for anything other than what fundamentally helps the team, then what is the harm to "the game"?
God forbid anything happen to make the game even slightly more entertaining, even if only by making one lie in wait to see what will happen when T.O. or Joe Horn or Chad Johnson reels in a 75 yarder.

FUCK sportsmanship, someone had better entertain me for that multimillion dollar contract.

It's a free country, and I want to see my fucking funky chicken dance.

I'm boycotting until celebration is allowed again.
