Car is a S13. KTS coil overs. Front Camber. Not rear camber.

Both camber plates are maxed the FUCK out, and the driver side has a retarded amount of negative camber, while the passenger side seems to only have a small tad.

What gives?

Do I just need to get it aligned at a shop? Eyes playing tricks on me? Something's bent? It's not the chassis, cause I had it checked on a rack at the body shoppe a month or two ago and its perfectly straight.

We tried unbolting the shock assembly from the spindle, pushing the spindle as far back as it would go and then bolting it back on, as well as removing the adjustment bolts from the camber plates and then putting them back on, but it still appears as if the driver side has much more dialed in than the opposite side. Again, both plates are maxed out.

Thanks in advance for any help.

pics!!!!!! I have KTS's and no problems like that. Maybe your caster is off and it makes the camber look wierd. I dunno.

Is the height even?

We didnt have anything better than a camera phone, so no pics.

Nazi: No, hahahaha

V & other guy: As far as we could figure, the drop is the same on both sides. We used a ruler, our fists as a gauge, gap between the fender & tire as methods of confirming the drop is even on both sides.

Which exactly would cause the issue? One side being too high? One too low?

I do have adjustable TC rods, and its possible that one side may have more caster than the other, if you think that could possibly be an issue. It's probably like .2-.5 more, at most.

TIA guys

Is it possible that the bushing in the LCA is shot, and the arm is moving out more?

Caster won't affect camber unless your wheels are turned from pointing straight forward. (camber gain with caster)

What kind of numbers are you getting for camber?

Don't have the actual numbers, as I have yet to put it on an wheel alignment rack.

It's not the LCA ball joints cause theyre less than 6 mos. old, MOOG replacements.

Get it aligned. Could be anything from a bushing, ball joint, or bent piece, or something incorrectly installed. You could also have an S14 LCA on one side, I've found that some people (two recent parts cars I bought) fit S13 parts in a pinch after a curb impact and don't know the difference. Doubt that's it, but it's a thought.

Nah its definitely not a S14 LCA, I got them both from Var off his old S13. haha

I'm going to try taking the front coils off, and adjust the height with them both off the car on the ground (like I should have done in the first place -_-), and see if that solves the issue.

If not, I'll just take it to the alignment shop and let them fucking figure it out.

Any other ideas guys?

TIA

My right side has retarded camber while my driver side has normal camber.
Then again, my front right shock is blown to shit and clunks while my left is starting to also go. DAMNIT JON I NEED YOUR SHIT

anyway, I second the 'take it to an alignment shop and have them do shit' idea. good luck.

maybe you still have a retarded amount of mud under the car propping it up

bwahahaha

I was thinking its the inner bushing on the LCA. I was just helping my brother with his S13 and we had the LCAs off, and I had a look at that bushing. It is very solid, I doubt thats the issue now.

Many coilovers have elongated mounting holes where they bolt up to the knuckel/hub. Could yours be set positive on one side and negative on the other?

Any updates on the situation, Art?

No time to work on it. I can't do anything aside from school/work until the weekend.

I'll take a look at it then and update.

That's what I thought, but that was tried also. Didn't work. But that was a possibility.

So,

After considering the fact that my friend Jon and I both have the same coils, on S13, both with the plates maxed out, and both with caster problems on the passenger side... I think its the caster thats causing the camber to be borked.

Reasoning: Jon broke a aftermarket TC rod at a track event a few months ago, replaced it with a stock piece, no alignment. Camber's borked on the passenger side.

I had caster problems with my car before I bought adjustable TC rods and had it corrected. Driver side had 6.8, Passenger had 5.8 (stock is like 6.8). I had it realigned after installing the adjustable links, then I had to remove them when I replaced my front hubs/spindles/tc bracket. No realignment since then.

And my camber's borked on the passenger side as well.

Reasoning sucks?

I don't think its the ride height... we both looked over our cars and they're pretty much even, if not like less than a quarter of an inch off.
