How many of you own a commuter car beside your drift, auto x 240s and how much are you paying for both cars?
I live in NJ and have 2 points and have a 240 insured by my parents. I am thinking about getting a commuter car and getting my own insurance. Any one know any good program? I want to list 240sx as weekend only car which I pay $1500 a year for driving all 7 ays a week with limited liability. Statefarm gives me a weekend only quote which is about $1300.

im with geico. the s14 was only an additional ~200 bucks a year on top of my rsx. still under 2k for both, so its not too bad.

same as the above.
geico
daily 05 civic full insurance
crappy 95 240sx
the difference is a couple hundred per year. you get two car discount and list the 240 as a weekend driver only.

I have Wawanesa insurance. Cheapest insurance you'll ever find and they don't advertise. They get customers from word of mouth. Rated #1 on the Insurance Board list. Hardly anyone knows about this insurance company. Bad thing is if you have 1 point in the last 3 years you will not be qualified. Only a selective few are qualified thats why its so cheap. Also they do not advertise which is another reason they are cheap. The service is top notch, my friends girlfriend got in an accident. It was her fault yet they did not cancel her or raise her insurance rate. I currently am insuring 2 cars, my s14 and my gf e39 bmw full coverage at under $120.00/mo
I quoted myself for fun on progressive.com they gave me a quote for $236.40/mo and AAA got me at $221.00/mo

Parents have been with State farm for over 30 years, so my car insurance is $200 every 6 months for liability. Full coverage runs me about $600

In the tri-state area- I use Chubb at 1600 and missed out on AAA at 1200. i will be going with AAA in June. Make sure you become a member as well. 6 free tows a year at like 70-100 bucks a year.
Geico quoted me around 3000+ just for liability, 5600 for full.

I have my civic which stays in the garage mostly and is my weekend car at times. My 240 is my daily driver. Full coverage on both through Travelers. I pay $154/mo on both. so about $1848 and change for the year. But I do have a very clean record for the last 12 yrs.

I'm paying $720 for 6months of insurance. It covers my 240, and my 2004 Nissan frontier Desert Runner under Full coverage, theft, and a bunch of other goodies. I go through 21century insurance.

With a DUI, insurance threads make me cry.
I am paying 373.change/6 months for my 240SX and my 1989 Chevy Caprice Wagon.
In 2 months, 14 days, 1 hour and 58 minutes, I can drop the Caprice, turn in the tag, sell it, put full coverage on the 240 and STILL spend less money. June 15th is SO far away.
... the moral, to this story, children is "don't drink and drive, and ESPECIALLY don't wreck while doing so." This has been an EXPENSIVE year of paying insurance.

I've got Pharmacists Mutual (wife's parents are pharmacists). ~$750 a year for both of us with liability only on my 89 coupe and full coverage on our '97 Expedition. We also have 0 tickets and 0 accidents on our records.

Metlife here, higher than the minimum Liability, 25/50/25 on two cars with unlnsured drivers. $850 per 6 months. Can pickup comp for $200 more. I am going comp on my RB car so that any damage or theft is covered. Collision would be a lot more extra.
I did the research as well and it came down to Metlife or Wawanesa. Metlife had some advantages in the coverage so I went with them. I have had Wawanesa in the past.

+1 for wawanesa. At 18 as a new driver. I paid $88/month for full coverage (the highest amounts of coverage) on my former '95 civic coupe. This year with my 240 and a bmw I picked up, should go down from 1400(accident, my fault) to well under $1000 for both cars on minimal liability. These cars are cheap and I don't have a loan on them. I'm unsure if wawanesa will insure outside of california, since they are based in SD.
Currently I'm searching for bike insurance.

Good grief! $2000 is all I pay for all 4 of my cars, plus my wife's Sequioa with comprehensive on all of them. I don't even want to know how young you guys are that you pay that kind of insurance!!!

well also you have to look at the coverage and not just the price of what we pay. I run a full coverage of 100/300 on both cars. You just never know. A lot of people run only 15/30.

I'm 22, but I have totalled 2 cars, and have at least a half dozen tickets since I was 16....According to my insurance company though, they were all too long ago to effect my insurance cost..I dunno. But it also depends on where you live.
I've been to Lubbock before...insurance better be cheap there

integra has liability only, camry has full coverage cuz we financed it. gf gets a teacher discount cuz she's a teacher. we're both over 25 and have not caused any accidents. so it's cheap.

Also what limit coverages do you guy have:
Full/ Liability only
15/30
30/50
50/100
100/300
I'm thinking of going down to 50/100, Full cov. on both. I did 100/300 because that's what I've had since I've been driving when my parents were paying for it...
Oh yeah, I forgot that my premium went up about $60 after I listed what mods I have in my civic so that it would be covered with no issues. ;)

Unfortunately, even though we passed a prop., to eliminate the use of zip codes here in cali for the rating of your inusurance costs, the Insurance companies still base rates off zip codes. Anyone in the 9000 zips are paying through the nose. I had a elderly chinese couple stop dead in front of me in El Monte, at the Garfield exit off the 10. I tapped them at like 10 miles an hour and they went and claimed bodily injury, What a scam. Anyways, I had Wawanesa and they fell down for them. I wound up with a 2 point accident and Wawanesa dumped me. Yup, for all who have Wawanesa beware. One at fault accident and they seriously might dump your ass. My low mileage 91 was also totaled by a hit and run driver under them. Luckily I did have full coverage and it was covered, but right after that they dumped me because of the other accident and them paying for the hit and run.
