ok if i take off slow or fast.. nothing when im accelerating.. but if i let the car coast in any gear.. when it gets to be about 2k or below.. it just starts a little popping noise out my exhaust.. it didnt do this before my n1 dual.. it only started afterwards.. is there something i should be checking on? or just expect it for now? or did the exhaust place screw something up? thx a lot

my car does the exact same thing. i've heard of many others with this problem too. i thought it was an exhaust leak or something but it isn't leaking anywhere. i guess its just one of those nissan things.

Yup its a Nissan thing. IIRC it has something to do with the mass air design. The mass air sometimes tells the computer to richen the mixture and sometimes you have a little fireball come out of your exhaust. I think the high flow exhausts flow a great deal more allowing the flame to reach the tail pipe as with the stock restrictive exhaust the flame wouldnt flow all the way thru. My friends 92 used to do this with his Greddy on it. It was cool following him at night when he downshifted. A blueish flame would pop out once in a while. HMMMM maybe I should get that 5Zigen FireBall exhaust after all to make me some fireballs too.

i have the same problem with my car with backfiring, but not at low rpm.

it actually happens when i am using like 18psi and when i let off the gas and then get back onto it it spits out about a 3in flame sometimes(mostly just noise) but it is LOUD when it happens.

hehe, aint that the truth. As soon as I redid my exhaust from the crappy stock one, I've heard tha pops. I actually kinda like it, sometimes it pops right when Im going really fast and then switch to the next gear. It's fuckin awesome I tell ya, fuckin awesome!!!!!

Backfiring? Maybe your car is running rich? Black soot on the exhaust tip? Smells of gasoline when you shut off your car?

Usually something that occurs on turbo cars.

Boosted if you are running straigh exhaust try poping flames...it's fun. Basically what happends during hard shifts is the ECU is still reading boost and pushin fuel so for a split second you have a huge rich condition.....POP.

With smaller turbos that people use on the 240sx you can spool up by reving fast. So heat up your car then star reving high by tappin the throttle....when i used to have the stock small ass twins on my FD I would pop 3 foot flames on the freeway or in parking lots. It's fun when you have tailgaters.

Aren't turbo 7s notorious for blowing fireballs every once in a while?

Yea they are but the trick is learning how to control when and where you to it
