Image resizing in forum code?

Just a quick image ?.

Is it possible to resize images either with HTML or the forum codes when posting topics and replies?

I've tried using HTML with no luck, for example:

<img src="http://www.imagelocation.com/image.jpg" alt="imagename" width="640" height="480" />

Am I doing it wrong? Is there a way? Or do I have to upload different sized images to start with?

can't use HTML, so yes, the images you want sdisplayed must already be resized.
