im in the middle of a driveway swap right now, and id say that if you halfway know what you are doing with cars than you can tottaly do it yourself, but it is harder than you think, but not that hard. you tottlay need a cherry picker though...

While swapping in an SR? <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/lookaround.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':look:'> <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumbs-up.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>
I don't really know anything except for the wiring harness is going to be fun <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sly.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':sly:'>
Good luck. I wish I had the balls to do it.

Find last month's issue of sport compact car. There are 3 full 240SX/Silvia articles, and one of them is a hybrid how to: S13 Silvia w/ SR20DET, from an american 240... I have read it twice, lol.

I'm also interested in buying a s13 and doing the SR swap. I got a question bout trannys tho. If I buy a new motor w/ the 5spd is it hard/easy to swap the 5spd into an auto? Basically does it matter if I buy an auto or manual if I'm planning on doing the swap anyways?

Justin C, you'll probably want to get a manual if you can. Its less work. Go to the FAQ page section and in there is a listing of the parts you need to convert auto into maual.

If you've got a couple good jack stands, and a good hydrolic jack it'll work fine. How low you car is doesn't really matter after that.
If you can't get the jack under there, pull the car up on a couple 2x4's or 2x6's. that should give you plenty of room.
