Who wants a V8 240 section on this forum. Ive noticed that there is many questions regarding the v8 240s and rx7s, and this way it wouldnt clutter up the board.

I think at least a V8 240 sticky in tech along with the CA, RB, SR, NA KA, and KA-T stickies could be done for sure.

I think that having a sticky would be beter than a whole section in the forum. I just don't think there is enough out there to justify an entire section.

V8's are STUPID!!!!! jk. Its not a very popular swap in the S chassis yet, so i dont think its needed, but I wouldnt be opposed to the idea.

There are tons of people genuinely interested in swapping v8's into 240's. I think that it would set Zilvia apart in yet another way.

+1 for yes.

Yes. And more importantly I want one in an s13.

If you make a V8 FAQ I'm sure it will be stickied. No other engine has a forum. Why should V8's be so special.

'cause if god were to drive a 240 it would be powered by a heads and cam ls1.... silly goose!

i think a v8 forum would be a little silly when the ka and sr don't even have their own forums.

blu808

Well maybe we should have a:
Ka
Sr
Ca
Rb
Lsx

Areas on the forum?

I'm thinking either 'V8' and/or 'Other swaps'

V8 seems to like too much over kill and it might affect the balance of the 240. But hey what do I know put a section im sure that would be a popular area on this fourm anyways.

The ls1 v8 motors are 100lbs lighter than the ka.

Making sections for every engine would definitly clutter shit up. Let's just sticky a "V8's and Other Engines thread."

EchoOfSilence

personally, i'm really happy that there are people who oppose this idea. sht like this reduces competition long-term.

let's keep the ls1 and other v8 swaps on the down-low so the no0bs will keep sticking to the essarr and their kayaaa's.

Yes I definitely think there should be at least some sort of sticky for that and possibly a section for VG's as well as im possibly going to make that endeavour soon

Now that I think about it, a simple faq would be enough... it's true that adding individual forums for each motor can clutter the area, however I have to admit that it's frustrating looking for RB info here on Zilvia since everything tech is just lumped in together.

I find it scary that professional drifting may get to the point where a 240 will NEED a V8 to keep up with all the grossly overpowered burnout machines that are now dominating FD.:bite:

blu808
03-29-2006, 04:58 PM
What difference does a v8 make for keeping up? You could easily have a ka, ca, sr, or rb be competitive. The ls1 is just somthing different, reliable, and for power output very cost friendly.

DJPimpFlex
03-29-2006, 06:31 PM
yea my SR with minimal mods can put up smoke and power over in 3rd gear easy. I do need more power though, but I still havent touched the boost.

Nismo180
03-29-2006, 06:46 PM
It's another option that should be discussed on a forum such as this. With all the arguments of which is cheaper for power KA or SR it'd be great to just throw up a link to the V8 forum and say, there is the cheapest way, good luck.

That and I do agree that we could use like an engine forum with SR, KA, V8, Etc, motors sub-forums. One thread is not nearly enough to discuss all that is involved in a V8 swap.

so when it becomes a popular swap, we'll already have a forum loaded with info for people to flock to.

i think like thatguy said maybe do a faq sticky for a v8 swap but a v8 in a rx7 is easyer then a s13/s14 theres kits for them none for nissans yet

Andrew Bohan

wrong, there's a kit

Not many would "pwn" a heads and cam ls1 swapped car. 400-450 rwhp, similiar tq with less weight and instant throttle response. Now try a blown or turbocharged one and come back and recount the glorious tale of pwnage.... ;)

Sean1978

why not? "V8's are dumb" is a pretty close-minded statement to me. If a D-1 S13 with a LT1 and a big name Japanese driver came on to the scene tommorow I'll bet a lot of people would change there tune. Also I'm sure if JCI laws and availability where different in Japan the Japanese wouldn't be opposed to it either..

drew935
03-30-2006, 02:23 PM
I say why not. KA and SR don't need their own forums as they are the natural platforms of engines for our car. We should be look at the next wave of technology and invention of swaps for whatever can be done to our S. :boink:

240Driver39
03-30-2006, 03:46 PM
i dont see the point of it.

drew935
03-30-2006, 03:56 PM
You might not see the point of it if you aren't looking to do that type of swap. Same goes for not caring about an SR forum when you're happy with the KA...

not because V8's are stupid, but that the topic doesn't require a full section of the forum.

I think V8 will get more popular (and as zilvia members are getting richer :p )... I really like the KA in my car right now, but I wish for more power and no oil leak, there goes the V8, and nothing beats reliability + power.

It would be awesome to have a subforum for the V8 s13/14.

For those who voted no, just think about this for a moment.

There are going to be people who will talk about V8s (myself included). It's just a fact. Accept it. Now whether we do it in the general forum, or in a dedicated forum is up for debate. If you hate V8 talk that much, wouldn't you want it out of the general forum so you don't have to look at it? Wouldn't it make sense to tuck the V8 folks away so they don't mix with the general discussion?

So given that, why would anybody vote no?

Tech Talk is really jumbled right now. It would be great if it were categorised a little better, but I'm sure the powers that be have plenty of things to do as it is.

Those who don't want people to do V8 swaps, why not? It's way easier to find parts for an engine that came from the factory in a car that was sold in the US. SR20DET and RB parts are easy to get, but you can't walk down to your local parts store and pick up parts like you can with a KA or LSx. I use whatever FWD SR parts I can, but there are some parts that take so ******* long to ship. Sometimes I can't afford the downtime. Those who still daily their car or want to stock up on spares know what I'm talking about.

This is why I'm pushing so hard for more V8 support.

Ok who gave me negative feedback? For posting about "v8's threads should get locked?"

Wtf step up to my face. if you have a problem say so. I could give a shit less about fags that think their the shit because they have some meshies on their s13. and think ls1's are 1000000 pounds. i was just opening up a new idea.

even if you hate the v8 it would be awsome to have at least a sticky. because then your boards wont get clogged up.

Shock BS. I just checked your rep. It was about that OT thing you and Andrew did not about the thread. The exact quote from the Rep is "Cheese makes your thread get locked" out of your 81 rep's there is no mention of v8's.

Going OT in you thread is a good way to get it locked. If you want people to take you seriously. I wouldn't do it. Shock Only Warning.

i say de-clutter up the forum with a ka/sr, rb, and v8's/other. if/when luke does the 240 w/ls1, you KNOW you are going to get newbs asking a bunch of questions about doing it, and doing the swap. so why not get those stupid threads outta the way?

OJmobileII
04-02-2006, 04:11 PM
vote yes on v8 section, as well as, yes on other motor specific sections.
sr, ka, ca, rb, and v8
the respective stickies can be moved to those sections.

heres the sticky

I still think there should be forums for each engine.

I think it's viable. If I do go the V8 route when I get back to the states, it'll be great to not have to switch to another forum and I can stay a devout Zilvian.:bigok:

to the ricers who are against V8s just because they have their head up their asses when it comes to import vs domestic: Go back to driving your Hondas and getting ur ass whooped on by the cars you talk shit about. Its pretty apparent that LS1 is a good alternative to the RB. It will def become much more popular with in next year or so but having its own sub forum... but i dont know. There isn't even a subforum for the RB. I think its fine by just having a stickied thread and ppl keep adding info onto it. If there was a subforum for every different motor swap, it would be annoying to browse (NICO,240sxforums).

a v8 in a 240sx is like big fake boobs on a asian girl.......

fun for everyone........

No the Hinson Crossmember is super beefy. It has taken unrelentless abuse, and even has withstood when conrad crashed my car.
My car was handling weird because the frame is still bent from when conrad wrecked my car.

i believe (probably cause i have too much faith in people) that everyone will start to catch onto the good things about the LSx motors. im currently trying to get an ls1 motor (might just get a crate) and im gonna slap it into my s13 fastback.

and yes i realize im bumping this
i've been lookin around at many different boards and sites for information i want. it'd be nice to just look at once place :)
