is an induction system a fancier way of saying a cold air intake system or is it the same stuff? AEM short-Ram Induction system, I read about this in a magazine.. thats why i ask! same magazine with the other problem about the headers! because this claims to gain 7 or 8 hp! and in previous posts you guys have told me 4-5 with injen intake and cold air extension! whats is the difference? whats going on here? something is wrong with that picture!

Induction and intake are really two ways of saying the same thing. You say potato I say potato. . . damn that doesn't work typing When you get into forced induction systems things get quite a bit different, but all of these systems are designed to put air in the engine

induction means that there is something going in something.. there are all types of induction systems.. But generally an "Induction System" implies that all the peices necessary for fluid to move into something are provided..

example: the Mikuni Induction system for the KA24E.

The AEM intake (as well as Injen) are just one peice of your Induction system.

Also - NEVER believe what manufacturers claim their part will give you HP wise. They always give the Perfect scenerio for those numbers.

example - Injen CLAIMS 18 hp on an RSX. REALITY through multiple Dynos gave about ~12 hp (still amazing for an intake)

AEM induction system = Intake
(I believe AEM only makes a short ram, with no CAI for 240's)

The manufacturer runs a lot of dyno runs on a lot of cars, and then the post the best results. Also, hp gains vary depending on the car. You can take 2 240's from the same year and get a variation of a few horsepower between them. Mostly due to differences in engine, etc. Also, if you have an exhaust already, you'll see a couple extra hp from adding an intake than if you are completely stock. Alot of mods work together to give a few extra horses that you wouldn't see with them independantly.
