Jus got an '85 Nissan 200SX H/B Turbo for a measily 40 bucks, this morning. Some dude had it collecting dust, cause it needs a distributor and fuel pump. I'll get this beauty running in no time.
It looks like it's lowered and has some 15x8" Enkie mesh with about a 3" LIP! It is 5spd, Rear wheel drive with all around disc brakes, and rear IRS, so 240sx LSDs are swapable! and of course the car has a Turbo 1.8 SOHC engine...
Anyone know where i can get aftermarket parts for it? Im mainly interested in Suspension work. And i'll soon post pics of this beast.

Im in Southern California, and they did come with turbo, but the first years only. Its a CA18ET thats inside the car.
CA18ET...not the CA18DET, shucks.

just to clarify it does not have IRS. It is a live axle with a multi link setup. it was the predecessor to our multi link IRS suspension . It does not mean it does not handle to bad. It came with the CA and the NapsZ engines depending on what part of the country. People used to stick the NapZ in their 510's back in the day because it was the next generation after the L20B which came in the first 200sx's(Silvia's) shipped to the states in 1978.

Former owner of an '86 200SX here.
240SX diffs don't swap. The old semi-trailing-arm rearends use different mount points and the axles fit differently.
You could get an LSD from nismoparts, or a Z31 300ZX Turbo. Some late Z31s had VLSD's, otherwise it'll be clutch type.
Aftermarket parts... hahaha good luck... <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'> Talk to these guys (http://sr20store.com/projectcars/carpics.htm).. note the SR20DET powered S12 at the bottom.
Engine choices for the north american spec S12 were CA20E, CA18ET, and VG30E. The CA18ET was actually available all years, but in '87-'88 it was Canada only, those frigid bitches.

Wrong.
'84 non-turbos had a live axle with four link, similar to an AE86 or an old American car.
All other S12s had a semi-trailing-arm IRS just like the one used in the 510 and Z cars up to the Z31.

ok, I stand corrrected, my bad. I guess its because I looked at the specs of the car the first year it was out and lost interest after that.
Anyways, the cars did not does as well as the their predecessor in racing and did not win many if any championships as far as I know. I actually think the car looks kinda cheap and plastic. It was built during a very low period for Nissan. They had come off the success of the 70's and kinda lost sight till the end of the 80's.partly because they went through the whole indentity crisis issue where the felt they had to change the Datsun market name here to the parent companys real name Nissan(marketing mistake big time took almost 6 years to recover from it) Towards the end of the 80's they brought out the newer much better looking Pulsar,Maxima , Hardbody trucks and of course the S13 , Z32 and the Sentra with the SER model.
Yes I was not and am still not a Z31 fan either

Jeez! do you work for Nissan or something?
We should call you Mr. K from now on...J/K That brief Nissan history was pretty cool. I think the 200sx DID win some races, though. But I think only in Rally events? They use this car for Rally a lot.

I would not do that back in my 510 days the 200sx tranny was considered to be the weaker 5 speed trans to get to put in your car. Everyone usually tried to opt for the Z 5 speed off the L24,L26 and L28. Much stronger. some people used the 200sx 5 speed but only because it was a shorter trans the Z 5 speed.
P.S. coolerow, definitely go get the Hachi its a dope litte car

That is what I am looking at, I can get a 86 gts, and I already have the supercharge for it. I wanna strip it and make it a racecar, but I need the 1500 for the car... dammit. That thing would be awsome as hell, I figure I could tune it to about 170 hp in a car that I can strip to about 2000 lbs. That would be quick.
