You need to check the fuel pressure, that will tell you if it's ok, start there, or if you ca'nt and you dont mind taking a chance, pull the pump and check your work, good luck

Pick up a gauge from the local parts store and T it into the line between the fuel filter and the fuel rail and start the car. You should see 34 psi. Disconnect the vacuum line going to the fuel pressure regulator and it should jump to 43psi. Using pinch off pliers clamp the fuel line exiting the regulator, pressure should jump to at least 80 psi, if not then the pump is bad. Shut the car off. Pressure should hold at 80 psi, if not the pump is bad. Take off the pliers, pressure should drop to 43 psi and hold. If it drops lower than 43psi the regulator is bad.

Since we are on the subject, 34 psi or 43 is the standard PSI for the SR??? I got an aftermarket fpr and dont know the PSI to run..sorry for the thread jack...oh and, does it making a buzzing noise when you start it? if so, then thats normal...if it makes a gurgling sound when you start it then its gone too...friends shit fucked up like that.

that's stock for a KA. SR is probably similar.

Stock SR is supposed to be 36psi with vacuum hose on the FPR at idle, and 43psi with the vacuum hose off of the FPR at idle.

yes some fuel pumps make that buzz noise. That is normal you shouldn't worry about it.

Check your MAFS now or ECU. I think the MAFS is not connected right.

Check your fuses, maybe you blew a fuse when you changed the pump the last time.
See if your ECU is putting out any codes. Dude you have grimilins!!!!Post what you find.

Well, I have a similar problem. I had to drop my tank to do some work. While I was at it I decided to change the fuel filter in the engine bay. I also removed to pump from the tank to check inside for rust and stuff. It was clean. Anyways, when I connected everything back up and was ready to start the car. I turned the key to listen for the pump but I got nothing. I disconnected battery thinking it needed to be reset. That didn't work either. There is no pumping what-so-ever. The fuel level gauge works though! So, any ideas?

main things would be fuse and if it stops reving at 4 it might be the maf same thing happened to me.

Check if you could have mixed up the fuel feed line with the return line

I would check this at the pump and again at the fuel rail. Make sure you're running them correctly.
