Selling my first 240 :( was a 1990 240sx with 1992 sr20det and a ton of other parts, why do piston rings have to fry :( and why do engine rebuilds have to be so exspensive!

I need a driveable car so badddd...and im not knowligable enough to drop an engine in :(. Only have 1600 left and if order an engine only, pay to get it dropped in and it throws a rod or something im so screwed.

If you are dropping an SR into an engine bay that has an SR in it, why do you need to pay someone to do it? The best way to gain the knowledge you desire, is to jump in and do it yourself. Renting an engine hoist and getting a few friends together is ALOT cheaper then paying a shop to put it in. Just my advice. You'll regret selling the car.

for 1600 u can get a cheap reliable bucket while you save up for a new sr or you can order just new rings and use the bucket while you rebuld the sr. think about it. you will prolly loose more money if you sell you 240

yea the hardest part of the SR swap is the wiring, and thats done. Just tape every plug and make sure to number them so you can figure out where everything goes. Everything else is simple.

if i can go KA24DE --> RB25 by myself (with drift freaq's help and) just searching the boards with no swapping experience what so ever i am pretty sure that you can switch out SR20's

hopefully mine will work out well ......

it doesn't have to be a SR or KA... as long as you like the car, that's the most important. Like everyone else said, try to learn to work on the car yourself, and then go from there. It's not like the SR has a lot of rust (yeah rust on aluminum) to prevent you from working on it....

good luck and I wish you the best.

dont sell it! take out your SR, and buy a KA to drive for maybe $200... then rebuild your SR!

Hmm...rebuilding the SR does sound fun...and buying a KA would be good...i will definately think about, well there is a guy that wants to pick it up today for 4k..I think it would be fun to start over again with a new canvas on which i can paint on :)

Thank you all so much for your input and advice.
