Ok been searching all morning for this. When I try to start my car i have to play with the clutch a few times before I hear a click then a start. I basically have to slam it to the floor boards. Now this used to happen in my maxima till i changed the starter. But to me the issue would be with the kill switch right? I have a SR20 blacktop so I cant just go to the dealer and pick up a new starter to see if thats it so I just wanted to know what you guys think before I go tearing the starter out.
Thanks in advance.

also in all my searching I have never come accross a direct answer to the question 'is there a compatable starter for the sr in the us?' Is there?

Try looking at the clutch bypass switch located under the clutch pedal. Sometimes it falls to one side and the clutch doesn't hit it squarely.
Also check your clutch bypass relay. Those go bad all the time. Do a search and you'll find that it's the blue relay sitting on the right passenger front headlamp area.

Sometimes it can also be your ignition switch. On my S14, I'd have to jiggle it so it would make contact with the starter points.

My clutch pedal bracket actually broke off and the pedal was moving all over the place.

well the bolt that goes to the bracket containing the kill button came out so the whole thing was moving with the pedal. but my starter is still taking to long to fire so eventually ima need a rebuild or a new one.
Thanks for the help guys!
