So ever since I got my auto SR20DE running, I can tell its not up to spec. sometimes when i start it when the engine is cold it acts like it doesnt want to start right away, it takes a couple cranks. It gets terrible gas mileage, it lags when i step on the accelerator, and it smells like its running way rich, and it sounds quick but has very little power, but it doesnt smoke. So I changed the Spark plugs, fuel pump, fuel filter, and none of these helped the problem. somebody please help!.. im getting frustrated, and about to sell it.

have checked to see if your cat. is clogged? if it smells funky but doesnt smoke and is all groggy i would check exhaust. if not that try to clean air filter

I'll check the cat, by the way it has a brand new airfilter element

and how would a bad cat cause the engine to start like it does?

Is there a way to check the timing without getting a light??
no. there isnt. sounds like your timing is way off.

I was thinking timing as well. you can usually rent a timing light from an autozone type place.

Run 19* of timing and 93 Octane...

adjusting the Timing did nothing, except help it run a little smoother. The past few times ive started the car, it takes like 15 cranks before it runs, the car still feels like it has 25 horsepower

Go get a compression test, then check for vacuum leaks, then check your batter voltage. Then maybe get a device to check your A/F. I know I use my A/F to diagnose almost everything and it works. And finally have a friend who knows a lot about cars, check it over.....
