Thats right, due to my financial situation i will be opening the shock drifting garage for mechanical work.

I have years of expierience, and have swapped about anything imaginable.

We can have your car in and out usually within a day if all the parts are in stock, and we offer competitive pricing.

We also will be offering mechanical work:

Diff removal, welding, re seal, and reinstall.
Clutch jobs
Tranny work
5 speed swaps
roll cage fabrication
guage installation
suspension work
race allignments

Basically anything you would need.

All this backed with my knowledge, and actual on track expierience. I usually get a couple emails every week from people wanting me to do work on their cars. Well now i have the time and space to do it.

Yeah, Luke, you found a solution to your financial situation. Its a good idea since you are involved with cars a lot. Might as well put that knowledge and experience to use. =)

Where are you working out of? I might need a clutch/flywheel installed and at the same time a looky here at my tranny (runs like shit). Lemme know. thanks

I also need an S-afc and some other electronics hooked up =).

pricing for installation?

03-21-2006, 09:07 PM
Thanks guys. I really hope i can make somthing of this.

DJ: I have expierience in carbon fab, when i was an mr2 guy i made carbon ttops, intercooler schrouds, etc.

usmd-180sx: Thanks. Right now im doing work at my home shop, but i am looking for a shop location. Where would you guys like the shop to be?

downshift_sideways: If i allready have the tranny out, i wont charge to install the shifter. Could you please let me know what clutch, flywheel, and tranny you have? sr or ka? thanks.

downshift_sideways
03-21-2006, 09:11 PM
sounds good luke. i have the oem flywheel that came with the car. i was thinking about just resurfacing it and installing a new clutchh.

what type of clutch would you recommend? its a ka btw.

blu808
03-21-2006, 09:16 PM
ok no problem. I can have that flywheel resurfaced for around $30

As for the clutch install, i can do $300 labor which is about 75 less then the going rate, that would include the $30 for the resurface, and the $20 worth of redline 75/90

as for the clutch, i prefer the 6 puck act with the extreme duty pressure plate. It isnt too bad once it breaks in.

If you like somthing a bit softer, then any act street disc, or exedy stage 1 is adiquate with the power output you have.

downshift_sideways
03-21-2006, 09:19 PM
sounds like a plan. the clutch is on its way in the mail same with the short shifter. it should arrive within the next 5-7 buisness days. i'll hit you up on the cell.

finding a location for a shop might take time and patience. Since the Bay Area are full of both tuners and performance shops, it can be a little tricky. But i like your current location =) Being it only 5 - 10 mins away from my house. haha

My buddy is opening up a high end Rim Repair shop in Hayward across the building from Red Starr tuning. There might also be a performance shop opening next door brought to you by KiS. (Hopefully). But ya, IMO, San Jose are full with tuner shops, finding an ideal location might take a while.

Nonetheless, with experience and quality service, you should be fine anywhere in the Bay.

But back to the topic, =) I am in the process of getting a commuter, so I shall let you know about the: Clutch/flywheel install, s-afc, and other electronics laying around. (I hate wiring).

Look forward to your help Luke.

PS. I want me one of those Weldy thingys too.. =)

Thanks guys.

Jason. Looking forward to hanging out.

As for the shop working out. I know there is alot of competition, but i have been in this industry for quite some time, and i feel that with my new buisness plan, it should be a winner.

Also the shop will have a fun, grassroots feel, which allways helps, considering the people who will be working on your car, are also the people you will be hanging out with at the track days.

03-22-2006, 12:37 AM
Luke for your information, there are no shop in SF that actaully do custom stuff to that extent, but it is expensive that operate here. Another good idea is to learn how to do dyno tuning as everyone in the bay area wants someone local who can tune speciallly sr/ka/nissan motors and willing to retune/rechip when new mods comes. I do not see that around.

For the welded diffs.

No way you can open a shop in frisco that actually works on cars unless you have tons of money, and/or open it in the boonies.

There's so much redtape to go through in this city for anything, let alone something involving cars.

That's fuckin dope tho, if I ever need a fulltime job I will come work for you. :)

I want something like this for my starter pannel. It doesnt need to go all the way back though. All I want is the area highlighted. If can go arround the shifter like in the pic and attach to the 4 bolts holding down the lower shift boot. This is for a S13 BTW. It needs to hold on my switch pannel to start my car, and the start button is kinda firm, so it needs to be pretty strong, and CF is bling! Let me know a price for that.

95zilvia
03-22-2006, 01:06 AM
wtf is a weldy thingie!

and stop thinking abotu smoking luke.

blu808
03-22-2006, 01:18 AM
95zilvia: haha. a weldy thingy is a weld locd version 4 diff.

dJ: There is a couple different ways to do that, the one in the pic is a molded item, that would req at the very least a model made out of foam, then to pull a fiberglass mold off of it, and then skim coat it with resin. Then we would have to lay up the carbon, and then vacume bag it.
That would cost alot. What i would rec is to just get pre laid, directional carbon sheets, then cut them, then use 90 deg angle aluminum and pop rivet the carbon together.

fliprayzin240sx: I actually dont have the time right now to build a motor, maybe if things are slow, but sounds more realistic in a month or so.

kazuo: Thanks bro. But yea sf is a little out of my price range. lol Maybe var would let me rent a bay or 2. haha.

phrozen: Thanks playa. I will def give ya a call.

DJPimpFlex
03-22-2006, 01:54 AM
well if molding is out of the question then I suspose I could just make it out of aluminum. If I did it the later way I would just be putting the carbon for looks alone, and thats not cool. Might as well just get stickers. What about fiberglass alone? Would that be any cheeper/ easier to mold that?

EDIT: and how expensive is really expensive?

can you get raw materials at a discounted price too (such as aluminum piping)? are you able to weld aluminum? how about a custom FMIC?

I can put a ls1 corvette engine in there. It is lighter than the ka, and makes 350hp and 350tq stock.

One of my racing sponsors makes a ls1 install kit for the s13, s14

We could get that for you, and do the install.

Let me know.

Delano
03-22-2006, 06:30 PM
how much would the total swap be?

blu808
03-22-2006, 07:30 PM
depends on what we are doing to the motor, tranny, and which cooling system you would like to run.

As for the motor. We can get you a nice 2001-2002 ls1 motor, with low miles, and the t56 6 speed viper tranny for around $3700-$4500 That would include ecu, wiring, and all that stuff.

Here are the options for the mounting kit, this following text was written by brian hinson owner of the company.

"We have finalized the mounts and the costs. We appreciate your patience, and we're going to start taking orders this week. We will be able to start shipping these parts in limited quantity next week.

The headers are currently being finished up. They will be made of stainless steel with 1.75" primaries and 3" collectors. We should have our production versions in stock in 4-6 weeks. Pricing will not be available on the headers for a couple weeks, but we estimate they will be available for around $945 for SS long tubes. Y-pipes are also going to be available.

Aluminum and steel drive shafts will be available, and we will have pricing later this week.

We will be offering the equipment in the following stages. Introduction prices are good through March 1, 2006.
Base Mail Order Package:
Includes aluminum spacers, engine mount supports, subframe reinforcement with template & transmission brace
Regular $799 shipped, Intro Price: $725 shipped (lower 48 states)

Upgrade Option 1:
For those without the resources to cut and weld metal, we will offer a mail in subframe upgrade package. Please allow 5 business days for the work to be completed.
Regular $973.80 shipped, Intro $898.80 shipped (lower 48 states)
Price includes base package.

Upgrade Option 2:
Required grade 8 hardware.
Regular $68.50, Intro $62.50 shipped (lower 48 states)

Available Option 3:
Our mounting system will require Corvette engine mounts. These will be available through HSC.
Retail: $172 shipped, Intro $161 shipped (lower 48 states)

Our recommended mail order mounting package will cost $1,122.30 during this introduction period. Our regular price will be $1,215.

Sorry, we will not be posting any pictures of the mounts and support equipment until our copyright/patents have been completed.

Our new website is being built, and I hope to have it up next week. The new site will carry all the pricing and installation information.

Give us a call or email with any questions that you may have. We're looking forward to putting some LS1 powered 240's on the highway."

This has been over the years al. I would have to get the print outs from the dyno computers that recorded them, or if i still have them. scan them. Too much hassle, since as you know every motor is different and tuning 2 motors the same way will end up with different results.

George. That was an awsome time. Im sorry we didnt have the time or money to make it perfect. But it has done great so far. After i finish andrews cage, and change some stuff on mine, lets bring your car in, and go through it over a weekend and make it more gangster.

But yea. from buying a ghetto bent car with a sr swap in it, and then pulling everything out, and trying to save the car. Then putting the motor back in. Then realizing how bent it was. To taking vars old chassis, and swapping parts, doing body work, painting the car, finding another front end, putting the motor in, doing the wiring, brakes, suspension, etc. 2 weeks wasnt bad at all. haha.

Not to mention the fun burnouts in the garage afterwards.

Hey luke my friend just mentioned that you opened a shop up for customs fab work and other things....

Any how I have an 87 Nissan 200sx just did an s13 18det swap in it with someother slight mods. But now after all that work I'm too lazy to finish plumbing the FMIC. How much would you charge to plumb and mount the FMIC and weld my diff (r180)? Also you think you can get it down before Altomont opens?

Thanks,

hey luke, i hit a curb straight dead on, and my wheels are pushed back about 5-6 inches. I replaced my tie rods already, and oil pan. But my suspension is still pushed back. My control arms are pushed back, and also my crossmembers are pushed back and cracked at one spot. Will it be possible to put the car on a frame machine and have it pushed forward when heated? or do i got to get new parts?

which would you be able to do? please give me a price qoute.

well thats a subjective question. If it were my car i would junk the chassis, and transfer your parts to another.

Luke installed my tranny in less then 1 day. I dropped it off in the morning and got the car back in the afternoon.

blu808
04-14-2006, 04:05 PM
Well the only problem is that to fit them with couplers there needs to be a bead on the piping so it wont slip off, also the tollerances need to be tighter on a pipe thats going to be welded.

You had aluminum piping right?

Also is the intercooler allready mounted?

Bumper on the car?

lmedeiros
04-16-2006, 12:52 PM
Yeah bumper is still on the car, already had it off a couple times. Its being held on by 2 bolts right now. Intercooler isn't mounted yet, I also know about there needing to be a lip to keep cuplers on. Right now I'm running factory boost, 7 pounds so I think it'll be ok if I baby it till I can get it welded. I found someone who can weld the pipeing. I'm just way too busy and tired of working on my car to mount everything and pre-fit pipeing.

I was getting my SR20 tuned at Racetune and it turns out is has blow-by at high boost and high RPM cuz the piston rings are giving up the ghost. How quickly could you turn around a short block rebuild with the pistons, con rods, and a rebore? Any reccomendations on the pistons and other parts? No prob, motorsports suggested I have a shortblock built by a race engine machine shop they know and trust. I got a short block I'm gonna have machined and then they will outfit it with pistons and all that good stuff.
