I abandoned my 3000GT project because I found a RIDICULOUSLY cheap 240SX. In the interest of getting my former project out of my yard and thus shutting my neighbors up, I am selling it dirt cheap as well. If you are interested so far, please read the post IN ITS ENTIRETY as this is sort of complex.
The car as it sits now is somewhere between a rolling chassis and a car. It's a grey area. I took a bunch of stuff out, some of which I still have, and never put it back in. The car as it sits, not counting parts I have in my garage, has the following features:
Functional dash in good condition, as well as center console, and essentially any non-carpet, non-seat pieces ahead of where the front seats would normally be.
Good condition body but I have stripped the hood, bumpers, sideskirts, spoiler, and lights. There is no externally visible rust. When I pulled the rear bumper there was some rust on its edges. I can't spot any anywhere else on the car, and I've taken it apart quite extensively. This is RARE on a 15 year old vehicle.
The stock suspension is still intact and the car is sitting on good condition stock rims with some weird tires, one of which has lost pressure due to the car sitting. I don't think it's a hole because upon inflation it survived an 800 mile trip.
Features that I have removed and sold off, or otherwise do not have available for re-attachment upon purchase of the car:
Radiator, headlights, a/c, spoiler.
Features that I have kept and will be provided with the vehicle upon pickup for FREE:
All interior panels and carpeting. Carpet could use a steamvac and will be fine. I have all seats. Rears are MINT. Passenger has no rips but doesn't look as MINT as the rears. Driver's side has a tear that could be stitched up or covered with a $20 seat cover at Autozone.
Taillights
Stock hood, stock bumpers, stock sideskirts.
Features that I have kept and will be provided with the vehicle upon pickup for an extra charge if desired:
Transmission. Worked fine while the car drove. It was replaced by the previous owner and as far as I can estimate it has about 60-70k on it. It looks fine to me and my friends who are far more knowledgeable than I. This I can let go for $440, which is ungodly cheap. Check 3SI.
Transfercase. Matches up to the tranny. This will go for $190. Also ungodly cheap.
Pitroad-M Bodykit. See how it looks at pitroadm.com . Rare, lightweight fiberglass, and sexy. This will be $750. Sorry, but check out how much the kit goes for brand new. The bottom part of the front bumper has some black overspray on it. The rest is all white fiberglass. Also, this kit is for the 94-98 3000GT with the fixed headlamps. All parts fit the 91, but the headlights must be changed. This car has no headlights so it doesn't matter.
94-98 3000GT headlights: $350. I bought these because of the Pitroad bodykit. I removed the glass covers so that they can be painted any color. They are currently stock red.
Original engine block. 3 blown pistons and 3 blown rods. I took one out but have it somewhere. It was taking up room and is not worth much, so I left it outside for a few days. So there's some oxidation on it. Dunno if it's good or not. Probably would be if you let a machine shop do their magic. This I can let go for...screw it, free.
Original heads. These are fine, have been stored properly, and are in good condition. One of the valve bolts broke off in its hole, and due to its size, I didn't want to try to get it out with a bolt extractor. For $20 or less at a machine shop, these would be 100% perfect. Well, one of them already is. And if you don't want to bother with it, I have cleaned valve covers with brand new gaskets as well as new grade 8 bolts that would hold it down just fine, missing one bolt or not. $195.
Probably some other stuff.
The car is Firestorm Red but was in the process of being painted before I found my new car. So, the engine bay has been sprayed a VERY nice PPG black. There is some overspray on the fenders. And also the bottom of the hood is black. The rest of the car is red. Interior is charcoal with cream leather seats and carpet. This would be an amazing choice for a hardcore race/street car, as I spent HOURS upon HOURS manually stripping out 99% of the sound deadening on the interior. Can't tell you if road noise would be bad as I haven't driven it since then. I was going to sand everything down and paint it black and run carpet and panel -less. It would look sweet. Some 240 guys have done it. Or if you like comfort you could lay down dynamat (better than the stock crap)and reinstall my interior.
If I were you, and I bought this car, I would need to 1: Do something with the interior. Cost: $0 if you want the original, just an hour or so of labor. 2: Give my shortblock to a machine shop and have them un-fuck it and build it with wiseco pistons and stock (STRONG) rods. Cost $500ish. 3: Buy my tranny. Get a new clutch. Use my brand new flywheel. Cost: $440 + clutch. 4: Buy my heads for $195. You now have a fully assembled and beefed up powertrain. Track down a few odds and ends here and there, but you have the important pieces. 5: Bolt on my stock bodyparts, paint them, and get a new set of 91 headlights. OR buy my bodykit and headlights and paint them. You will need a new hood if you go this route. Cost stock $300ish, cost bodykit route $1100 + hood + paint. Throw in some paint and a new set of tires if you really are a perfectionist, and your car will be AMAZING. The pricier options I mentioned here are what the most drooled-over 3000GTS have. You can bolt on stock turbos for $300 or upgrade all the way to ones that are proven to 830 awhp for up to 4 grand.
The point I am trying to make here, is that this is a steal if you are looking for a project and are the type that will sweat a bit to save ridiculous thousands of dollars.
I am located on the northside of Indianapolis. Contact methods in ORDER OF PREFERENCE: Email: [email protected]l.com , phone 13173744790. Or reply here I guess.
I also have a couple pictures on my webshots album. That's www.webshots.com . My username is BlackDragonVR4. I think that'd be www.webshots.com/blackdragonvr4 but if that doesn't work, simply click on Advanced Search on the main page. There aren't any good pictures, so I'm just including these as a teaser. I have more and will upload them to the album shortly. The pics of the car with the flames on page 2 are NOT my car, it is Ray Pampena's 830 awhp car. It has a Pitroad bodykit and 94-98 headlights, just like the items I am selling.
