Hey, I have a Ford F350 Truck with a 7.3L Turbo Diesel motor, and Im thinking about upgrading the turbine on her...
Well, then I will be left with a friggin HUGE factory turbine...
Aside from having to get a custom manifold for it, would it be a bitch to make it work for an sr20? and would it would at all?
As far as the spooling, it spools very low on the truck, but then again, thats got a ****load more air coming out of it...
i would say it spools around 1100-1200 on my truck...
Im not sure what turbo it is, I cant find it on the net, but its a Garrett...
Here is the replacement one, its a Garrett GTP38R, and the link for info is below, it is gonna be about the same size as that one, just not quite as nice..

HAhaha what is that, 50% of redline?
Strictly drag car with huge power goals and N02 to spool the turbo you could use it.

Hahaha
Thats what I thought...
And yea, redline is 3600 i think
haha
Damn... Its a huuuuuge turbine... haha
Maybe I can just keep it and go TT Diesel
haha

that thing has a monster turbine!!! too big for a streetable SR. u'd never be able to take advantage of the turbos big turbine unlees u redline in every gear to every light.

Diesels are the shit. Mine makes 18psi at like 3200.
I have the specs on that turbine, Ill have to get it/post it later for you.

3200....from six huge cylinders. 3.5 times more displacement....yea

I say dont use your turbo from your desiel. You'll have to wait till a high RPM to actually get the turbo running at full potential. My friend was going to do that but I he finally saw the brightside. Use it if you want to throw that bitch to the redline everytime.

Actually he said it was a powerstroke, which is a V8. Just FYI.

Diesel turbos are a whole different kind of monster from auto turbos it'll work yeah, and I think it'll even spool alot sooner than you/any of these guys think it will. The actual wheel aren't nearly as big as you would think, but the housing are huge. Look around in your motor, you see any form of boost control? They don't have any. The turbos are designed to perform well at astronomical boost levels. 30+ psi and it's only making 300hp. Deisels do well with alot of pressure, but not alot of volume, that's what that turbo is designed to do. It'll work, probably spool decent to, but at the lower boost levels you'll want to run it'll be way out of it's efficiency range.

Ok, so how about this...
I just buy the upgraded turbine, wich is huge, and badass... ill take the intercooler off my truck (dunno if you guys have seen the factory intercoolers on these trucks, but lets just say the IC on my Ford is probably 30-40% larger than my damn KOYO Radiator for my S13... haha
its HUGE!!!
And then ill turbo a nice little V8, like a nice lexus V8... and throw it in a little cart for the street.... itll be like an indy car..
muahahaha
i wish....
