most companies say that you NEED at least 7-8 full turn's of the lug nut
put some 1/4 incher's out back last week no problems yet, 1/4 is about 6-7mm(correct me if wrong) that was on 16/7 with gay ass +42 offset not even close to flush at the top off tire

It will also depend on the pad of the wheel, where it mounts to the hub. Some wheels have more material in-between the hub and where the lug nuts seat.
How much extra stud to you have right now? 10mm extra? You could get away with it. If not that much, don't do it.

lost the day at the track and needed a new studs and such..fucked up the threads big time.

as long as you can get 7 or 8 turn's it should be ok

i agree w/ SpeedMonkeyInc if for some reason it is a high pad wheel it wont work but if it is a low pad wheel maybe. you also should look into track spacers from H&R or Project Kicks they come with studs in them

I ran 8mm spacers once, broke 3 studs in 2 days... only one of which was an event.
Do NOT do it.
It's not safe.
... or I guess u could be like me and run back to les schwab (where I got my tires) or somewhere similar where they replace studs for free :)
Those guys got tired of seeing me, so they gave me longer studs for free the last time thru :D

I'm against all spacers.
I used 8mm and also had to replace my studs.
The only type I'd even think about using are bolt on spacers.

5 mm at most with stock studs. make sure you got about 5 atleast full turns of lug nut.

So would it be ok to run 10mm with aftermarket studs, like say, peak performance?

Don't do it. You will only have about 1/8 of an inch of thread to screw the lug nuts onto. Get on eBay and buy a pair of the thinnest hubcentric spacers. I think they sell 15mm spacers... about $70 or so a pair. Of course, I'd get 4 of them so you can put them all around.

just go out and buy some studs. They rn't that expensive and will open your options to runnig more wheels with spacers.
im running 10mm spacers in teh rear and 15mm spacers up front. It's all good if you have the right studs.

If you insist on getting longer studs get some Nismo studs. It's been awhile since I looked at them but I think they were 40 something mm long and the stock studs are something like 29mm? I think they ran around $50 for 16.

Nismo studs are also said to be quite brittle, compared to like ARP ones, which are much cheaper and is like 60mm long or something like that.

Stock stud lenght is 42 mm.
Nismo offers studs in 50/60 mm sizes. I believe ARP offers similar sizes.
I have Nismo but only because I couldn't get a straight answer on knurl sizes for the ARP's. I've hard similar things about APR > Nismo but I figure if you're not changing wheels like crazy and rushing, the Nismo should be fine over the supposedly 'stronger' ARP's.
