Hey all,

We went testing over  the weekend at Mid Ohio.  What a blast!  Friday was a lapping day so we got lots of time in.
Here what we learned.

1.  Need solid upper strut mounts.  I was trying to save some money by avoiding grounf control camber plates up front.  Looks like this is going to be absolutely neccsary.  Also need solid mount uppers in the rear as well.  There were rubber bushings  all the way around.  The car is sprung so stiff that the rubber was making the car bounce up and down under load.  I would touch a curb or if there was a suddenly weight change (keyhole, madness) the car would start bouncing up and down.  We took the rear shock apart and cut out one rubber bushing and replaced it with a stack of washers.  This corrected the problem in the rear somewhat, but exagurated the front.

2.  Will need more HP to contend with the 325's.  They are turning a bit over 200 hp in IT trim.  Gonna be tough to catch that.

3.  Rear subframe bushings?  Mine are stock, do replacing these make a big difference?

Soooo...  Anyone using "pillow mounts" or solid upper strut bearings?  If so what kind and how much.

Best lap: 1.48  (hopefully it will do 46's once we get it to stop bouncing around the track.)

Wait - if you started Friday, that means how many days of track time?  WOW!

Well, from the sounds of it, it was a success (isolating problems being a good thing).  Unfortunately, I have nothing to offer to help, beyond hearsay.

1.  no info.  Were you running the factory upper mounts?  I know those are notoriously weak.  I can't imagine how bad that would be w/ a race sprung car?

2. &nbsp;Yes. &nbsp;I've heard some of the local rx7 guys bitching about how fast the 325's are. &nbsp;You could always call Sunbelt <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'> &nbsp;(do you know what those guys are getting out of their ITS 240 motors?)

3. &nbsp;I've heard mixed reviews on replacement of the subframe bushings (mixed in a random way, not good/bad). &nbsp;Going solid is definately bad - unless you are a drifter or dragger (reduces wheel hop when tires are spinning). &nbsp;The replacement stories I've heard ranged from no difference to a more solid feel. &nbsp;People I trust had reviews that said replacment was noticeable only in power on, when the weight shifts rearward. &nbsp;The benefit is supposed to be a more linear feel (so that you can feel traction better) w/o being so rigid as to void the functionality of the design. &nbsp;

If you troll backwards for a post on subframe bushings, you will find one of our members (something like s15sr20detek6... I know it has s15, sr20det, and ek6) who recently installed the Nismo subframe bushings on an s14. &nbsp;He also has an rx7 ITS car, so he might be a good source of info. &nbsp;I think he did that job back in early april/late march-ish.

I have 2 sunbelt motors built for Showroom stock. &nbsp;What kind of power are the they getting for the IT guys?

ah. &nbsp;Nice. &nbsp;

Actually, I thought you might know. &nbsp;I've heard all these great stories from Atlanta about fast 240s, but have heard remarkably little about their output.

How much can you do to the motor in SS, compared to IT? &nbsp;I thought SS was an untouched motor?

i think you're right mark, but balancing and blueprinting may be allowed to stand up to the added stresses of racing.
