what engine is it? chris forsberg put the nissan titan v8 in his 350z. can't wait to see how this turns out. will the intake plenum clear the hood?

woah, need more pics of the engine bay. it looks like it's mounted transversly, hahaha. make sure the plenum clears the hood, man.
Nothing like replacing a 'truck motor' with a BETTER truck motor, eh?
specs on the motor?
I'd still want an LS1 though :o

I believe he also posted this on FA.
VH45DE IIRC, from a Q45.

I stand corrected.
I was hoping it was a VK56DE :naughtyd: the original poster didn't specify

That's awesome. Nice work and some more pictures would be awesome. I started like 2 weeks ago preparing my S13 for a LS1 with T56.

today we test fitted a vh45de in an s13... looks like this is the new baller swap.

baller if it clears the plenum, ghetto otherwise. the way it looks now it is going to need a cowl inducted hood to clear, lol. don't get me wrong i am not nay-saying, but really excited to see how it turns out. its a race between skillvia and jjwilks240, keep us updated.

Cima VH41 doesn't clear a S13 stock hood.

Don't know how well this engine will fit in this S14. More Pics are needed.
The above car can be read about here:

That's one whack looking intake manifold. It doesn't make any sense to me. Not exactly clean packaging.

yeah its really shitty how they made it that way, i would of just rather go for the domestic v8 since the parts support are there.

Thanks for the feedback. unfortunately the hood had to be cut. that will be there while still using stock plenum. as far as the swap the car was running summer of 2005. the engine i have is from 94' Q45. with auto tranny. stock specs are 278hp and 292tq. supposedly those figures are underestimating true power. the car runs and drives great. have not taken to the track yet. but will soon. though the car is not near complete. i still have to turbocharge the engine. and i will be remapping the ecu myself for bigger injs and timing. once i can take video of it and rip it to computer i will post it.
these are the only pics i have which were from 2005. the rest you will just have to see the car in person to belive how incredible and reasonable this project is. more pitures (http://www.entuning.com/gallery.php)

Very good choice. i was originally going to do the same swap but i wanted to keep all nissan parts for this project. but the Ls 1 is going to be a much easier swap because that thing is much smaller block. let me know when you get it planted in there.

Gawd DAMN, can we say rat's nest? looks like a big effin mess to me... but hell if it performs, it performs. Please do a cleaner wiring job than that... and let us know how it does at the track!

IIRC that picture with the rat nest of wires is half way through that guy's install, I don't think he just left it like that hahaha. Can you say fire hazard...
@ Skillvia: Cool install. Is there even enough room to put turbos and all the extra plumbing? If it were mine I'd probably leave it NA with some headers, custom intake manifold and a good tune on a standalone. Anyway props on what I'm sure what a big headache and lots of time!

Plenty of room but you have to make the room. with the current motor mount setp i made, there is not much room but i willbe going back and designing something new. that will give me more room to make the turbo exhaust fit easily. also i have to relocate the fuse box. i will be driving it na for a few weeks before i start on turbocharging. just so people can see in person and let them =know its the real deal and complete( before turbos that is.)it will be a few weeks but i will keep you guys updated. Thanks

thank you, i have now been inspired to start this swap instead of doing the VG30de. would it be at all possible, if i payed you for some motor mounts when it comes time to put mine in?
i just have to keep saving lol
and is there a manual transmission that this could bolt up to?
im in the process of searching but though id pop off a couple of questions, for some info. thanks for the inspiration. and this will be going to my S13. so is there much of a difference in terms of motor mounts?

Cima VH41
Would you happen to know if VH41 is destroked, or if it is just a smaller bore?
I wonder how much more rev it has compared to the VH45, sounds like a nice swap to bring to the states, probably has more aggresive ecu tuning as well since it's from Japan... You can use the Biki Roms on these ecu's, I hear it's pretty bad ass with an easy 100HP added to the wheels with a retune.

Meh, doesn't look fun to work on. And boo for cutting the hood.
Post up some dyno charts and track times. ;)
EDIT: Damn, we all got pWn3d 'cuz shift180 bumped a 2 month old thread.

How is the weight distribution with that motor? What type of motorsports do you intend on participating? Strictly a drag car?

Well it's still a good topic. The VH45 is actually lighter than a VG30 cause it's a aluminum block. The guys that put these engines in 300ZX's say there is a plate that allows them to be connected to 300zxtt trannys. Search and ask around on AutomotiveForums or a Z forum.

you do realize that this IS supposed to be a Z forum as well?

Yeah, but not nearly as much as a Silvia forum. No offense to any Z guys, but I was just saying a specialized site is usually more informational.

if you are talking about my swap the beginning of the post. then here is the status.
today is june 22, 06'. the car is running and driving on the streets of texas. still a few tweeks i have to do with the auto tranny. i am working on it to shift alot harder. also in the mean time i am designing new exhaust manifolds for the twin turbo set up. my car still looks like base model 240. i have not put my wheels on. and havent upgraded much. not much time to do so but hopefully i will have the car turbocharges by the end of summer. no track times and i have not taken the car to be dynoed yet to see how well the stock set up performs. if you live in the DFW are hit me up. there is a new car meet in the fort worth area. thanks
i ordered one of those John Dixon adapter plates for the VH45DE motor, you should of too! i wanna see some pics of hood clearance

glad to hear its up and running.....any reason why you stuck with the slushbox? i know in the sentra community there was a guy who had a custom adapter plate made so that he could run the sr20de with the Spec V 6 speed tranny.....is there a manual version that you can use the tranny from or would you need to have some kind of an adapter plate fabbed up?

Would it still not fit even if you put washers on your hood?
