i feel your pain yea i got a slow automatic too & im also wondering how much it would cost. ive been thinking about just getting a manual 240, but ive done so much work to mine i just cant bear to sell it! but ive heard that this is a REALLY big job. just think about all the components you have to install. but if you can find someone to install it for $200, then it wont cost you a lot at all. im not sure exactly how much the parts you need would cost, but i know that you could find a manual 240(w/ a dead engine) for like $500-$1000 & take all the parts you need from it. say, is this a shop that is doing it for $200 or someone you know personally? cuz if its a shop let me know their number!

i did some (a lot) research on that... if you are really good at fiding parts.. it would all come to about 600 bucks.. if you are not so great... about a grand... if you buy it all from NISSAN... about 1200-1300, but i am going to be luckier than dat.. hehehe.. my buddy has a 240 manual.. and blew his engine.. hes gonna sell me the car for 200 bucks... the engine is gone... and the car is in a bad shape.. but its a manual.. with brand new clutch.. im gonna take out all the parts for the swap from his car.. and put it on mine... hehehe.. i know.. shitloads of work.. but worth it... def. worth it!

i bought my tranny from a wrecking yard in canada, the dumb fuck didnt know i was american and charged me a total of 280 bucks american with a brand new centerforce stage 2 clutch, this also included everything for the swap. trust me when i tell you that if you have fingers, tools, and somewhat of a brain then you can perform this swap yourself, try to get a friend to help its much cheaper and you dont have to work as hard. manual makes the car seem a lot faster but its just because you can shift at higher rpms more torque. its also sooo much funner to drive, unless you like a free hand to masturbate.

hey i got a couple questions for you swap experts. first, can i use another year S13 tranny on my 89 S13?(such as the 90 or 91). or can i only use an 89 tranny? and secondly, what else would be good to do while im taking everything apart? are there any parts you would suggest installing now while im doing the swap? such as a racing clutch, etc. or should i just do the basic stock swap?

Ok once again I am going to point you guys to the Faq section there you will find a complete outline of the swap parts wise and what you need to do install wise.
As for the question about what tranny can be used on what year it does not matter I am running a 98 S14 tranny in my 91 right now it had 8K on it when I did my auto to 5 speed swap. the only thing you have to change on the tranny if you put a s14 tranny in a S13 or vice versa is the speed sensor. You might as well get a good clutch so you don't have to change it later as well.
