Anywho, the scene have brought over a bunch of new products for us 240sx owner. A few years back, there was no version select, all FMIC cost 800+, sr wat? that was rare.. Greddy release their turbo kit finally after how long?, AEM release EMS for us, people discover bikirom, megasquirt, greddy emanage. TONS of base maps and people trying new stuff compare to before when it was just JWT, SAFC, or straight standalone. I know there was some stupid products that came out, but there was good too as point out earlier.

Here in Canada, the 240sx is becoming the new Civic. My mom has been followed and/or asked if she was selling her car 3 or 4 times in the last couple months. Kids want 240's to drift...this movie is only gonna make kids want them more. Wasn't really sure if this movie would help or hurt the drift/JDM scene. It will help it by making it bigger...but kids are idiots. 240's are one of the cheapest cars available that is known to be a drifter, so it is the car everyone will try and go after.

I remember both sides of kearny villa road being PACKED with a few racers, and the rest in minivans, trucks, and gay cars... THATS when all the dangerous shit started happening. When it was 20 cars a night, we could keep it safe.... But once you get 300 stupid drunk fucks looking for races, walking in the road, pulling out in front of people, shit happens, and negative publicity happens...hence the HUGE crackdown on racing....

The way they plan to stomp out these "street racer/drifters" is by targeting vehicles that LOOK modified for commiting such acts, making YOU and 95% of the people on this board targets. At the time i saw f&f i didnt even know what kind of car a 240sx was probably took me a while because they only showed it about 3 times. This movie should just be called f&f 3 DORIFTO.

Maybe they'll only show s13s. Either way people with hondas that watch this are going to trade in their hondas for rwd cars. Theres no doubt about this. Most of the people who do get influenced into buying a 240sx because of the movie are not going to tastefully modify them which will really put 240sx at a low.

Then again drifting is more dangerous and people who pick up on it usally know atleast the difference between oversteer and understeer. I dont see too much people that like racing buying 2k suspensions unless they really need it. They usally go for power; thus making people who buy a 240 go for power and spin out a lot and loss hope... hopefully. Lol.

In japan drifting is pretty popular unlike here they have tracks everywhere. If people do start getting stupid here and going crazy in the streets drifting is going to get targeted by the media and the cops way more.

Either way its going to be bad. I mean com'on most of the people playing Inital D think they are the best drivers just because they can avoid some walls. People are going to come out of that movie with a lot of confidence thinking they learned everything there is to know about drifting and the chaos begins.

240sx ran out when people started reading magazines and realizing that they can be made fast on a tight budget and out handled a lot of cars easly. Intial D made hachi-rokus run out. Supras ran out with F&F. Nobody ever even knew what a r34 was until F&F2 now everyone even my grandma knows what kind of car it is. I have no doubt in my mind that this movie is going to make our cars expensive and hard to get a hold of but maybe make a better aftermarket then again not many 240sx were made.

I have no idea what junkyards you guys goto, but when I goto ours, it's already impossible to find parts, there's these armies of, now don't take offense, immigrant workers taking every part off every car they find. I thikn someone hires them by the dozen, and then sells the parts online or something. Me and a friend litterally had to jump in an S14 and lock the doors and roll up the windows to get an interior out.

Like stated previously, drifting requires a little more investment and ability than 'street racing'. True, everyone with their Civic's will drive out of the parking lot from the movie and try to slide the first corner they see, but when they do they'll figure out how much harder it is than it looks. Most will give up on it after a few tries, or crash in the process. Hopefully.

I don't think that this movie will have NEAR the effect that the first F&F had on civics, the reason for this is the (at least here in canada) there are at least 50 (maybe 100) Civics to every 1 240sx (s13 and s14).

Also the resale on 240's here is pretty high, which will hopefully keep them out of the hands of some ricers, and stock 240's don't kick out overly well, espically 12 valvers (don't hate me haha)

And last but not least, the resale value of my car will go up at least $3g's, and i don't mind too much (not that i'm going to sell my car, it's just funny).

Maybe we'll get lucky and all these kids will just stick to RX-7's........

drifting has already blown up. when i got my first 240sx (i bought a 89 in 1996) you would never, and i mean never see a fixed up 240sx. now they are everywhere. it wont hurt anything, it will just make more places stock 240 parts and will allow companies to spend more on R&D on 240sx parts. if companies see how popular it is they will cater more towards the 240sx scene.

I was reading that article on SCC I think with most of the cars thats in the movie. Universal and VW has an agreement so they had to have VWs in the movie. VW sent 4 prototype R32 Golf w/ RWD config so it can drift in the movie. The Evos too are all RWD config. I have a friend that already saw the movie....he told me it was not that cheezy and there were tons of 350Z's. So I guess the 350Z will be the "must have" car and raise the "street" resale value.

As for Vin...yea he appears towards the ending...I can't believe they showed a quick clip of him on the official website trailer....I thought that was suppose to be a surprise.


But then again.....wasn't the original idea for the 3rd movie to have Vin go to Japan to help out (or save) a friend?

jus got back *i know i bitched about it, and i go to see it first thing, how ironic*. It was the most realistic of all the fast and furious physics world as far as stunts.

More of the time i just felt how stereotyped the japanese culture was shown. Troubled kid *not even 18 yet in teh story* who is a gear nut and cant drive worth shit while in highschool, flirts with the football guy's slut gf who makes him race her bf to get in them panties *dumb hoe*.. they race and crash, Momma bails troubled kid out and sends him to japan to live with his dad. on arrival of his dads house, hes lettin out a japanese hooker. Kid goes to school there and meets a girl, and lil bow wow, who is a hustler. Kid wants to drive a car so bow wow takes him to the parking lot drift place where all the drifters go. Makes a scene about this head guy who is suppose to be a gangster (dk) and challenges him to a race. Kid has no car to race, so this other dude says he can use his car (silvia) just cuz he want to see what he can do. kid uses car and crashes all over the place as a noob drifter. kid then starts hanging out with this guy to build up drifting, while yukuza deals are going on between everybody etc. Deal goes bad, DK goes after them at thier shop, they flee and drift through traffic .the guy who loaned him a car, gives him another car and eventually dies from his rx7 getting t-boned and flips and blows up.gee maybe if they were not drifting they coulda made a fast get away lol. kid's dad was building a mustang with no motor. kid makes an agreement with dk's uncle who is a yukuza that a race would settle thier differences and the looser has to leave town. they agree to it. so kid goes to the shop of the guy who died in teh fd and they put the RB26 that was in teh silvia and put that into the mustang. they race, rammin each other.. dk looses and everyone is happy.


Ok i just saved you guys movie fair. Besides seeing people peel out from the theater, there was a few 240s and ae86 that where just waitin for everyone to leave so they could peacefully leave as well.

They should raise the age limit for a drivers license to 20 imo.. main character was 17.
whats learned from the movie, on the express ways, as long as you do over 180kmh the cops will not go after you. When people get angry in japan and fustrated when they are drifting they become wreckless and aggressive to start ramming the other car. Cute japanese girls go to the drift meets. when you screw up in the US, jus go to japan.

A lot of different hobbies/sports/activies have stupid cliche movies made about them. One of my friends used to rock climb semi-professionally and he and his friends were pissed when Cliffhanger came out, because of how fake and stupid it was, bad acting, bad actor for main character, etc. Did stupid kids go out and rock climb afterwords? Maybe. Did they fall off and get hurt? Probably.

But were they using professional equipment? Did they practice or mentor first? Did they go to Galleons and pay to climb the rock wall? No.

So maybe the movie will cause stiupid kids to go out and buy sport compacts and try to drift. That movement is already set in motion. We've already been bombarded with it too much in pop culture. I bet a bunch of kids will also go out and buy old Impalas and spinners after watching rap videos. How does anything like that start? Someone sees someone else with something cool and copies it. How did we all get started with 240s/tuning/racing/drifting in the first place?

Sure, on one hand it makes me mad. It helps bring the underground into the spotlight and you don't feel as special to have a tuned import or to consider yourself a drifter anymore. Perhaps it perpetuates stupidity. But my friend eventually got over it. Learned to laugh at it. People are going to do what they want anyway. It's popular right now. If it's just a fad eventually it will fade back into the underground, and if it's meant to be it will become even bigger. Maybe those stupid kids will grow up and get serious about it and they won't be wannabe ricers anymore.

Boycotting the movie is not going to change anything. So lighten up, go see it with some friends and drool over nice cars and laugh at cliches and bad acting. Or don't, just sit around and be bitter. But just know that bitterness isn't going to start a revolution.

Comparing it to freeway speedway (old japanese movie series from early-mid 90s), totally different where the plot was street racer learns not to play on the street from close friend who dies in accidents and dreams to take it on teh track. A US version of that series would be cool if they keep the same image of story.

I actually bought my 240 b/c I wanted a fun car that nobody really had in my area..you never saw a built,modded or anything 240 around here when I bought mine. Every 240 I saw around here,esp. the s13s were beat all to shit,and ragged out b/c they were cheap and fun. I had never even seen drifting,or heard about it before I signed up for zilvia.

Yeah I think tonight will be insane too. I'd def. agree to try to be careful...I remeber I went and saw 2f2f twice in theatres,and even after it had been out like a week or two the second time I saw it,there was huge groups of ricemobiles and whatnot acting a fool leaving.

I was expecting more from the movie. It wasn't that great and it didn't really get me into it. It didn't make me feel like going "Fast and Furious" at all, but I guess it's because drifting isn't new to me.. But it did inspire an Eclipse to try to drift out of the parking lot :-/ I went early to avoid cops and the wrong type of people. The "Drift King" was in the movie, but he just had like two lines.

Hopefully people who watch it will feel the way I do, so we won't see too many accidents or a negative impact from the movie.

mmmmmmmm........ just got back from the movie. Here's my thoughts, and I would like to share with the Zilvians.

The plot isn't great at all;
The music isn't that good either;
Too many Chinese people in the movie (I am Chinese) as I can tell. There's a mixture of Chinese actors and Japanese actors ---> acting sucked IMHO.

To be honest (very honest), I felt the Initial D movie (by Jay Chow) was better than this FF3... May be I am more like a Inital D guy (it may sound lame).

Back from the movie tonight and other than the obvious bad acting and storyline it was pretty good!! Remember it's a MOVIE! it has to be Hollywood in order to sell tickets, they can't just show an OPTION VIDEO and expect to make millions at a theatre....even tho that shit would be sick on the big screen to watch!!!... I'd pay to see it. What I would like to see is an HBO type of Initial D series with real actors now that would be sweet! Oh and just go see the movie good action atleast.

The Rave Huntsville made a big production about the opening here because of Lucas Black being from Speake, Alabama and the Bike being built Rogersville, Alabama. The movie was not that bad for what it was- it was a movie. The thing that has really got people work up around here is the RB engine being put in the Mustang. All of the V8 guys are up in arms - which I find rather amusing.

i agree.. i saw it today and i actually enjoyed it for what it was..surprisingly enough, there were no idiots in the theatre or in the parking lot.. mostly sons with their dads and such watching the movie.

Haha v6 mustang nice.. Yeah I wasn't driving,and we rode in a jetta 1.8t with engine work done,but its really quiet and stealthy so we proble wouldn't have gotten pulled anyway(we didn't.) There was one,ONE cop car parked out front at the theatre,like they ALWAYS have but the cop was inside watching patrons so they have no clue whats going on outside in the parking lot. There was alot of modded cars everywhere. But I didn't really see any idiot stunt driving more so than any other movie night hahah:goyou:
