Got my car inspected and failed the tint test! Seems that here in Louisiana, tint has to let 45% of the light pass through it. I had somthing like 30%. I had to rip off my tint to pass inspection. Get this, it's a $585 ticket for dark tint. Guys at three different places said that LA troopers are getting capped and they are enforcing these laws. Oh well, there goes my dash in the hot sun. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''> I guess that I am going to get a *legal* tint put on here soon, it just doesn't look right anymore.

Eh, I think your dash will be ok with some good 45% tint.

Just something about that last sentence was funny as hell.
Anyway... you can fight that. I think. There are so many variables to a roadside tint check. Light that the machine puts out, the light outside, the diffraction of the glass itself. You can get the right % tint on a car, and the glass can cut the light transmission by 5-10% easily.
Anyway... I just roll down my windows when I get stopped. I have extremely illegal tint, and I might get shot in Indiana for it, if your 30% was ticketworthy.
I have 10%, but according to the light meter thing, I am only letting in 5% of the light in when my windows are up. And when they are down, I let in 15% somehow. Anyway, 30% is legal here.
Sorry man.

Hey Jeff240SX...are you up in Indiana? Just wondering...anyways, our legal limit here is 35% light transmission...The first time I tinted my windows I got 5% Limo Tint. That was a big mistake...with the factory tint in the glass (the slght greenish tinge) I was spitting a mad 2% light transmission on the meter! Needless to say, I took it off and have since had it redone. 45% is just shitty though...I thought 35% didn't seem like I had any tint on the windows. Well, hopefully if I move to Colorado like I plan to, the limit out there is 27%, so it'll be a little less strict.

The guys at the shop were telling me that if they passed me and I got pulled over that the ticket is $585. It's ok I just had some legal tint put on and it's manageable.
