Ive been researching around and ive been looking for a set of coilovers that have an 6k front and 4k rear. I dont want something overly stiff. Ive had 8k/6k and it was just too stiff for me. Ive tried Tein HA's but the pillowball mounts suck as they were fairly new but already had quite a bit of clunking. KTS were just way too stiff for the streets. Id like some height and dampening adjusting setup.

i think tein flex is that soft.

to change up your spring rate, you don't need to constantly buy new coilovers.

if you want custom spring rates, ask for them from your vendor! many companies even sell individual springs so you can mix and match.

I have tein HAs but i dont have front camber plates and the ride is rough as hell. The rates are 6front/5rear. I road in my friends car with JIC FLTA2s and his ride was way smoother than mine. My dampning was set to full soft also. I think another reason why mine was stiffer was because the coil over wasnt dual perch adjustable.

TEIN Flex are 6k / 5k and still pretty stiff.

Have you tried changing to a stiffer setting? Sometimes the harsh ride is due to the bounciness of the softer settings and not the actual stiffness.

Have you looked into any tanabe c/o's -> s0-c and SS? Zeal and Whiteline also make c/o's that have those rates and are valved for mainly street use... only downside is their 2k price tag! I've also heard that although the rates are higher 8/7, Silkroads are very streetable, but i've never personally confirmed that. What about Ground Control Coilovers? You can get any spring rate you want and Koni apparently makes a short stroke shock as well.

I myself have all but given up on trying to choose between c/o's. I've realized that I don't need height adjustability and i'm not looking for much of a drop, especially on NYC roads..Instead i'm going with a slight drop on H&R springs/AGX.... put the rest of my money into arms, wheels, tires, and other parts of the car... If I feel in the future that I want somethign stiffer and lower, then i'll begin looking into c/o's again.

zeal function xs coils fit your criteria
i'm going from 8K/6K (tein he) to the zeals 6K/4K
there is a 6-8 week wait for delivery so maybe not the best choice if you're in a hurry

That's strange... JICs are imfamous for being super stiff.....

With all coilovers cant you just take them appart and put in a specific spring that you want, Swift makes individual springs with different rates, What do you guys think of 7kg and 9kg???

It's not the spring rate that FEELS stiff on the street, it's the dampening.

That being said, get something with good dampening.

Tein = NO
My HE's feel WAY stiffer and more uncomfy then 2 of my friends that run 10/8 spring rates on their tanabes.

my coilovers arent that bad. Actually very comfortable and im not even at max softness. Im prolly like at 15%. 8k 6k ddrugs. I used to have them at near comp settings and that was stiff. but they ride nice.

Those are the zeals i'm talking about. I doubt many people on this board can afford that 2K+ price tag though....

From what I've heard they have great dampening for street driving....

Has anyone just switched spring rates around on the Megan street specs? How shittily would this effect the dampening?

S13 Tein Flexes are 6/4. The dampening is just right for the rates too. A little soft but it gets the streetability down, if that's what you're mostly lookf or.

I have Whiteline coilovers in my 180SX, they are 5 front 4 rear, and VERY NICE for street use. The more I use them, the more I love them. They're 16-way adjustable, with progressive rebound increase, meaning as you adjust the damper the rebound will be affected more than the compression. They give a very nice feel, I can feel every bump in the road but not in a disturbing way, it doesn't bounce me around or anything, I just feel it in the seat. They're rather expensive though, but worth every penny IMHO.

They dont offer spring perch adjustability though =(

So if you got more spring rate in the front when you veer into a corner to drift this helps you control the front of the car when you're sliding because of the extreme stiffness in the front, and so what makes you more tight is the use of throttle, And its vise a versa more spring rate in the rear the car will slide with ease.

WTF? Please, re-read your post, make sense of it(if you can), and add some punctuation so others can understand it too.:D
