So, I'm gettin my car repaired (possibly)

The company i talked to says they will replace my rear quarterpanel and door with used parts and paint it with lifetime gauranteed Sherwin williams paint.

Does this sound acceptable? or will this kind of work destroy the resale value of the car?

Would it be worth $1500 out of my own pocket to have them completely paint the rest of the car too?

My alternative is to keep the check, and part out my 240 and buy something else.

what do you guys think?

its probably more cost effective to swap everything over to a clean shell.

then again, if you really love that particular 240sx, then its worth what its worth to you. don't worry about market value.

SW does everything.
We use their stuff for our $50 million buildings... and my house... and soon my car if House of Kolor is too expensive :)

sykik: how is your ride? it's got smashed up some didn't it?
structural damage? I'm leaning towards moving everything over, as I've done that once myself.... but damn, nothing makes a car look new again like fresh paint :D

Buy a new door, hammer out the door frame and put widebody fenders on :)

fix it. it actually ups the resale value if you replace panels rather than fix it. it shouldn't lower the resale value if its back to pre acctident condition versus not being fixed at all. or swap everything into a new shell and ill be glad to take the wrecked car off your hands.

I said same thing.. "SW?? .. wtf?" But I guess if they give a lifetime warranty it should be ok.

Repair it is. :)

I post some pics of the broken car when i get a chance.

Sherwin williams is bootleg paint.I would save yourself some money and remove all mouldings, door handles, mirrors, wheel wells get a junk yard door.Doing all that you will get a better job, nothing worse than overspray everywhere Get better paint than SW, look for Standox,Sikkens,PPG,or Dupont. Most shops gaurentee their work.

PPG is good paint to use,
